Fixins is a full service soul food restaurant that celebrates the history and traditions of African American culture in an inclusive environment that welcomes everyone! We’re located in the historic Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento California in the 40 Acres Cultural complex at the corner of Broadway and 35th Street.

Excellent food and service! There were seats available at the bar so we ate there giving up our reservation to the next customer.

We had a terrific waiter with the name Kronk on his shirt. However, we had reservations for 6:00, there were empty tables, and we weren't seated until 6:25. Once we were seated, service was outstanding. The noise level was insane. It was genuinely deafening. Food varied: I had the fried fish, which I enjoyed, along with potato salad, which was excellent. We had fried green tomatoes that were very good. Anything sweetened (lemonade, yams, dessert) was nearly inedible, the dessert in particular. It was peach cobbler, and it was genuinely disgusting. Had it not been for the excellent service from our waiter, and the fish, potato salad and fried cornbread fritters (aka hush puppies) I wouldn't consider returning. However, if I do, I will avoid anything that is sweetened.

The deep fried hard boiled eggs are absolutely amazing! The oxtails and rice with the collard greens and okra was absolutely delicious! If you are looking for some down south soul food, this is absolutely the place to go!

Music was perfect. Service was perfect. The vibes were all there! The food was just as fantastic. We loved everything we ordered and our server, Chandra, was incredible. Thank you, Fixins!!! Perfect name because the fixins were ON POINT.

Our first time and we brought another couple. The gumbo was excellent as was the shrimp and grits. Since our favorite Cajun restaurant closed I’m glad we found a delicious replacement.

Best Southern food I've had outside of the South! Highly recommend the fried chicken and Waffles.

Food was excellent and we will definitely be back. We were seated about 30 minutes past our reservation time and service was a little slow, however, it was Father's Day and very busy so I can have a little grace on that. Fried Deviled eggs and artichoke dip appetizers were both delicious. Still dreaming about the hot chicken sandwich paired with the strawberry and basil cocktail.
