Fixins is a full service soul food restaurant that celebrates the history and traditions of African American culture in an inclusive environment that welcomes everyone! We’re located in the historic Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento California in the 40 Acres Cultural complex at the corner of Broadway and 35th Street.

Wow! What a place! Was craving some good southern cookin’ comfort food— reminiscent of my days growing up in Texas— and Fixin’s delivered!!! Everything we ordered was delicious! Smothered fried chicken, smothered pork chops, smothered ox-tails—yes! And all the fixins (sides) were southern originals—so yummy! The standout was probably that maple butter—there was more than maple and butter in it but whatever it was— it was pure magic on the corn muffins!! So fun to see Kool-aid on the menu so we indulged—it’d been years since I last drank Kool-aid! We will definitely be back!

The food I had was delicious cornbread, greens and oxtails. My daughter had the gumbo and she said she liked it. The gumbo is more of a gravy style. I definitely will go back to try the other items. Oh the cool aid was on point.

Amazing server. Helped us feel at home and walked us through the menu with class and charm. Tasty home style cooking. Amazing vibrancy. Highly recommend

Always love the deviled eggs and fried chicken! Larger drinks and excellent coleslaw.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by Uriah. She was very pleasant. She smiled when she greeted us gave us eye contact, and led us to our table and not only did she seat us, she asked if there was anything she could do for us. The actual server was very polite and kind and attentive, she kept checking on us and make sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely go back.

This was my second time coming to Fixing. This last time I tried the chicken and waffles and I shared a couple side dishes, greens and okra with a friend. Everything was delicious. I always need a doggie bag. I wasn’t that impressed with the peach cobbler. The reason I gave the food a 4 star. Service was excellent!

This was our first time at this restaurant. We waited about 10 minutes for our table that we had reservations for. However, once seated we were met with the friendliest waitress who welcomed us and answered all questions that we had about the menu. The food came out quickly. The food was delicious. The fried deviled eggs were unique and tasty. We also enjoyed the fried tomatoes. Our entrees were just as delicious. We had fried fish, fried chicken, smothered pork chops and chicken and waffles. Everyone raved about their meal. I recommend you give them a try for some authentic soul food. We will definitely visit again.
