Excellent Sunday roast dinner. Our group of four had one beef, two rolled belly pork and one vegetarian mushrooms in red wine pie with all the usual trimmings. We shared two portions of delicious cauliflower cheese and left the pub very full and very happy. The cask ales were also very much enjoyed.

Nice enough. Service was great but wow!!! The prices are huge and the portions microscopic. I think they are aspiring to look like a high end fine dining restraint. The food is good, but not amazing and £27 for some nice lamb, 3 potatoes and amow courgette ribbons is extortionate. Won't go again. Felt like a rip off. All 4 of us felt the same.

Wednesday night at the 5 Bells felt a little quiet, but, as always, had a lovely evening, great service and great food.

Rather deflated after booking in for a birthday meal. A pint of a familiar beer arrived watery and was definitely off, when brought to the attention of the bar lady she said 'that's just how it is, I'm not the producer so there is nothing I can do'. Such a strange defensive response and no offer of exchanging it for another, she just walked away. I didn't want to fuss but my husband brought it back to the bar and a much friendlier waitress poured us a new pint without a quibble. This exchange out a bad taste in our mouth, so we didn't stay for afters. The bar lady gave us our bill after correcting us being charged for the odd pint. She asked how everything was, I said the food was good but was taken aback by our interaction regarding the pint, but we appreciated her colleague replacing the pint. Her response was that nobody has complained before and again that she wasn't the producer, and as long as we were happy then it's all good. But it's not good - the whole matter could have been smoothed over very easy, without attitude. And as expected - no mention of a birthday to be had. I'm a big fan of the other pubs in The Pickled Egg chain, but we won't be visiting this one again.

Food very tasty and well presented. The Weds steak night included a bottle of wine but we added starters and desserts so the bill stacked up a bit to just over £100 for 2 as these are around £9 - £10 each. Steak was a decent size and full of flavour but had gristle running through which we had trouble cutting out even with a steak knife! The pub itself is beautiful and full of character and the manager guy was very welcoming and friendly. Husband was given a free drink as it was his birthday which we thought was a nice touch. .

Lovely pub, nice and warm too. Very clean and beautifully decorated. Lunchtime locals cheaper menu that is advertised on their website was not available, which was very disappointing as this gives the opportunity for more affordable lunches. Food was therefore ordered from the normal menu which was very nice and we all enjoyed it. Service was efficient and friendly. Food is really quite expensive from the normal menu. £19.50 for fish and chips and around £9 for a pudding. We did not order puddings at that price. Great smoking area if required and 2 car parks.
