3rd Coast Fish Bar is DMK Hospitality's chef driven "fish shack" concept celebrating the freshest sustainable fish and seafood available. New England and New Orleans are the focus of chef Michael Kornick's menu, including east and west coast oysters, tuna tartar, shrimp cocktail, ceviche, salmon poke, lobster roll, crabby patty or crispy gulf shrimp "Satchmo" on a bun, shrimp boil, fried calamari, shrimp and sausage gumbo, chowder, grilled salmon, mahi mahi, whitefish entrees, creamy seafood pasta, fish tacos, protein bowls, golden beet salad, Caesar salad, hush puppies, local craft beers and mixologist created seasonal cocktails. The outdoor patio provides one of Chicago’s best alfresco dining spots. Fish Bar has been featured on the Food Network’s Sandwich King for its legendary Crabby Patty and was awarded Eaters best Lobster Roll in Chicago.

We were seated 10 minutes after our reservation. Didn’t see a server until 15 minutes after we sat down. The market fish was white fish - we asked which type of white fish and the server had no idea. Ordered drinks, an appetizer and dinner at the same time. Appetizer came out first then dinner came out, but no drinks. Drinks came out when we were halfway through eating our dinner. Food was mediocre. Seemed like staffing was short staffed and disorganized.

This restaurant is truly a delight. I had the pleasure of savoring delectable oysters, a creamy seafood pasta, and two refreshing mocktails. My partner opted for the Cajun seafood platter, which, while flavorful, proved to be a bit too challenging for him to navigate with the provided seafood tools. Despite this minor inconvenience, we both wholeheartedly agree that this establishment is deserving of a return visit.

A group of us came in for bingo. It’s advertised as Tuesday nights at 6:30. Sign on the window says it, outside there’s a big sidewalk sign that says it. At 7 we asked when it starts and were told they were short-staffed and it’s too busy. There weren’t very many people dining there. We also got rushed out around 7:45, because they were closing at 8 even though on the website it says they’re open til 9. Food was okay, but not worth the money. First time for all of us trying it and we weren’t impressed. Don’t think we’d go back again.

Intimate, friendly environment with fantastic service and delicious food. Unexpectedly coming to the restaurant on bingo night was a delight.

The food was fine, but overpriced. Oysters were good, soup was expensive and had minimal crab in it. Service was bad. Very slow, mistaken order, and it was nearly empty there so it wasn’t busy. Great patio outside, this place has potential

Unfortunately the space was understaffed so we waited 40 minutes without any updates or drink refills. Had I not approached the bartender, I don’t think we would’ve been seated at all. The entire restaurant cleared out within an hour… Went to the space next door owned by the same owner and had the same experience.

Absolutely horrible service. Took 10 minutes for anyone to even greet us, which should have been a sign to turnaround and leave. Restaurant was half empty but we were seated next to the bussing trash can. We ordered our drinks promptly after sitting down, and they legitimately took 50 minutes to come out from the bar. Pacing of food service was horrible, 2 of the 6 in our party received their food 20 minutes before everyone else. We noticed the rest of the food had been sitting in the service window for probably 15 minutes and had to ask a server if we could get our food that was rapidly growing cold. Considering it’s a part of an established restaurant group here in Chicago, I was absolutely shocked that were no apologies or a pre-emptive comped drink. Even once we grabbed the bill and asked the server why nothing was done to make up for our horrible experience, he simply said the manager said we’re short staffed and aren’t offering any discounts. I’ll never step foot in any DMK restaurant ever again as they can’t manage the simple base level hospitality required to operate in as competitive a market as Chicago.

The oysters were excellent and thats where everything went downhill. We ordered the clam chowder, the Hot Mess Shrimp Boil, and the fish and chips. Nothing was seasoned! Everything was tastless. The food was hot but come on. If you offer a new orleans style dish how do you skip the cajun seasoning. Was really excited to try something new but was truly disappointed.
