Always a great dinner here this however, was Sunday brunch for two locals and two visitors to Tucson. Everybody left happy. Only flaw is that the staff was so busy they had trouble providing the bread they offered. It came eventually, but a side order of mushrooms for my meal never did show up. SV

We've been here quite a few times. Went today for my birthday. We had a party of 4. Service was generally poor. After being seated it took about 20 minutes to put in our drink order. About 15 minutes later the server came back to let us know that 3 of the 4 drinks we ordered were not available. We ordered something else and waited another 10 minutes for the drinks to show up. We had to ask for bread for the table. We got our food order in finally and waited about 30 minutes for the food to show up. One plate was sent back because the salmon was way overcooked and the side dish was cold. Another plate was sent back because the food was cold. A third plate was a pasta dish with chicken and although tasty, the diner found only a very few small pieces of chicken. My salad was fine. A free birthday desert was accepted and was very good. Overall this was a very disappointing experience.

The food and service was fine. Toward the end of our meal, an incident occurred with the wood fired grill where smoke was billowing out into the restaurant and close to where we were seated (lower floor area). The smoke was fairly astringent. A table with three young couples and their children left their table immediately. We were almost done with our meal so we asked for the check and my wife finished her wine in the bar where the air was fresher. No one from management approached us to apologize or offer an explanation. Very poor public relations.

We loved our server, Kenzie - very friendly and on top of it!! However, there was a terrible grease fire in the kitchen about 10 minutes after we ordered our entrees which lasted for at least 10-15 minutes. We were informed by Kenzie that it would be at least 30 minutes before our entrees would arrive. We ordered another round of wine and asked if it would be comped. Under the circumstances. She would check. Paul, the manager, came by about 10 minutes later and informed us that he couldn’t comp the wine but would a dessert or appetizer. BUT, it would be another hour or more before our entrees would arrive. We informed him we would leave and find another restaurant. Our friends’ check was $14 and ours was $24!! I called Paul from the new restaurant we went to and suggested that before he came over to our table to tell us that our entrees would be an hour late, he could have checked our total bills and offered to pay them if we didn’t want to wait. His response - no apology. If he had done that, we would have returned the next night and probably spent over $200. Now we won’t return!

Usually great steaks, not this time. Wrong temperature and ordered blue cheese fillet and kitchen didn’t add. Bacon wrapped was not-edible (and I love bacon).

We gave Fire bird's one more opportunity by going there to celebrate our anniversary. Our last two visits were sub par; horrible, slow service and flies around our table. We made the waitress aware and were told nothing she could do about the flies. She did not offer to speak to a manager. Next visit was the same, poor service and the flies again. We escalated to the Manager and he did apologize and gave us a $25 courtesy card for our inconvenience. Our visit tonight was the worst; flies, slow serve, our meal was barely warm. We asked twice for carryout boxes and three times for a bag for the bread. Unacceptable! Needless to say, our Anniversary dinner was not a memorable event. We have frequented Fire bird's for 6 years since moving to Tucson. The following is our observation: - Decline in cleanliness and cleaning floors while customers are eating - Staff, lack of interaction with customers, socializing and laughing, ignoring simple duties - Food is not hot, barely warm - Manager no longer interacting with customers; how was your food and service? I seriously doubt that we will return and can no longer recommend Firebird's to our family and friends. Respectfully, William Reddington

Two different times, the runners tried to give our table the food other tables ordered. Seems there are many new workers since we last visited. Our server was Espy & she was a nice girl, but it appeared she was working harder and not easier. We watched her 4-5 times while there check on her tables and return to the kitchen empty handed. A couple of times was after our soup/salad when we had empty plates on our table. Seems she could always grab a plate or two to take back to the kitchen. This would have saved her a tremendous amount of steps throughout her busy night. Overall, our dinner was very tasty, as always. We shall visit again.
