We’ve dined at Finlay’s 3 or 4 times before & again we enjoyed delicious food, great service and a friendly informal atmosphere. Our visitors commented on how lucky we are to have Finlay’s in our neighbourhood. Thanks to all the team for the consistently high standard of food & service.

First time we had been to Finlays,there was a nice atmosphere,good menu the staff we’re friendly &attentive the service was good,we really enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be going back. Have already recommended Finlays to some friends.

Always high quality, always great service, and the haddock and chips deals are amazing value. In my opinion, one of the best restaurants for miles around.

Haddock & chips came, too much fat on fish & the chips. The fish needs to be drained better. My wife had Monkfish Scampi. It was ok but the pieces were uneven - some too big, others small. The wine list was poor, The last time we came, I choose Chilean Reserve Chardonnay - terrible. So, this time, just a glass of Prosecco & a beer. Try Enotria, for a better quality of wine. May come back but not in a hurry!!

Can the service be too efficient? My wife chose 3 small plates for her main but it was served while we were still eating the starter. I believe the waitress, who was very friendly and helpful, suggested that we went with it as that's how they come from the kitchen. She wasn't uppity in the slightest but we really could have done with 10/15 minutes. The mains were delicious and cooked to perfection. There was no urgency for mains to be finished and my wife's dessert followed in good time after ordering. We sat for a while afterwards and enjoyed our wine. In the end we used up our Open Table 1hr 3/4 suggestion but we could have quite happily stayed a lot longer. There was a nice atmosphere and the restaurant wasn't too busy. So really just that little gap between starter and main course would have helped slow it all down a bit. My wife received a nice birthday card with a £5 discount voucher for the next time we go. Unfortunately it would cost £95 in petrol to get there as we were holidaying from Newcastle, so it looks like that's out!
