I love Finlay’s . It’s on my doorstep and I’ve been a regular customer since it opened. However the staff changeover is very high and it’s hard to get to know anyone working there . Catch had a very friendly team of people and the atmosphere a lot more welcoming. The staff are always helpful and the food and chefs really good. It just feels a tad corporate . I hope Em doesn’t leave she’s the only one I know to say hi to nowadays .

Excellent fish - cooked to perfection. Helpful and friendly service - nothing was too much trouble.

This roadside hostelry combines a great location with superbly cooked fish (though I guess they could rustle up a burger or steak for confirmed carnivores!). When I say ‘superbly cooked fish’ I mean it. There’s a great dejection of fish, delivered from Sailbrand that day, and each is cooked to perfection. I have tried the skate wing, sea bass and the good old haddock & chips wi’ mushy peas. Prices are reasonable. (special offers on Monday (not Bank Holiday) and Tuesday will get you two fish&chips for £20…… cheaper than the chippie up the road!) There’s a wide ranging wine list and three draft beers. All in all a very enjoyable experience.
