We had a table booked for my Mum’s special birthday. We received the confirmation email from open booking, turned up and Finlay’s was closed. No notice, no communication. We had to get a takeaway as everywhere was booked up. Extremely poor customer service and a very disappointed birthday.

Didn't go. Booked a few weeks ago for our 20th wedding anniversary, after having a great time here last year. Had email requesting confirmation of our attendance 24hrs before. Arrived to find the place in darkness, locked up. Apparently went out of business 4 days before!!! Not turned off there "Opentable" booking system. Celebration ruined. Feel sorry for the staff who have lost there jobs, but owners deserve everything they get.

Fabulous mussels and the octopus was the best I've eaten for a very long time. Companions had fish and chips and the fish pie. Everyone was very happy.

Delicious food, celebrating my wife’s birthday. Great service. My only criticism is that my bill included an additional tip.

Overall, we had a lovely evening at Finlays. The food was beautiful & the restaurant itself well presented with a nice atmosphere. The food was on the more expensive side, the bill soon stacked up when side dishes / nibbles were added to mains. The staff were pleasant & friendly. Only a couple of small niggles, for example cutlery not been replaced after starters, drinks taking a while to be brought to table etc

Disappointing birthday lunch! The food, staff and the atmosphere were all poor, we won’t be visiting again !

Within a few minutes of sitting down the waitress asked what we would like to drink, we’d not had chance to look at the menu. Felt rushed. Same for ordering the food. My main of muscles came (£19, no fries included), and the bread I think was stale. No bowl for the empty shell was provided, I had to ask. Also grabbed my own vinegar as the waitress didn’t ask if I was wanted anything else and couldn’t grab anyone’s attention. 6 of my muscles were closed so couldn’t be eaten. Not the nicest muscles in general, pretty average. My friend enjoyed the monk fish scampi. The wine we had was lovely. Reasonably priced, but moules frittes should come as a whole dish. I paid extra for a small portion of fries; these are cheap, provide more! First time in a very long time I didn’t leave a tip. A shame as I loved my first visit here.

We had the small plates, 6 between 2 of us. All of them were excellent and easily enough for 2 to share each plate. Our favourites were the seared tuna, crispy squid, scallops and gnocchi, beautiful. Service was good. Had some lovely wine. Price reasonable. Will definitely go again and would recommend. Really enjoyed ourselves.

First time here with my wife on our anniversary but it won’t be the last. Pleasant surroundings and great service. The food was excellent especially the monk fish scampi and the fish pie! Thank you for a lovely evening.
