L'Ortolan est un restaurant gastronomique étoilé Michelin disposant de salles à manger privées et qui est situé dans le pittoresque village de Shinfield, à Berkshire. Installé dans un magnifique presbytère, L'Ortolan vous propose une expérience gastronomique décontractée et informelle. Le restaurant a remporté de nombreux prix, dont une étoile Michelin, 3 rosettes AA, ainsi qu'une place dans le Sunday Times Top 20 restaurants au Royaume-Uni en 2016. Les menus inspirés du Chef cuisinier Tom Clarke comprennent un menu du Jour (28 GBP - 32 GBP dîner seulement), à la Carte (58 GBP - 65 GBP), un menu dégustation de 7 services (75 GBP), le menu surprise de 10 services (105 GBP) ainsi que des offres de saison et des souper de dégustation de vins. Leurs sommeliers se feront un plaisir de vous suggérer le vin parfait pour accompagner votre repas. Pour les occasions spéciales, L'Ortolan dispose également d'une Table du Chef et de trois salles à manger privées. Every time I go to l'Ortolan, I wonder if it will be as good as the previous times and it always is! The food is absolutely delectable, the wine list incredible, teh ambience perfect, the Sommelier knowledgeable and helpful and the staff courteous and attentive without being intrusive. Nothing is too much trouble. We particularly loved the heritage tomato and halibut courses in the tasting menu. I am so sorry that this jewel of the Berkshire countryside is closing after all this time.

The food was pretentious and not overly exciting. The service was intrusive with lengthy dish descriptions which really did not add anything to the experience. This used to be a very good restaurant, years ago; it then went down and was really awful for a while so we stopped going. We were told that it was much better now. It was indeed better but still not good enough, sorry.

Did not go. I had accident, fall— hence at A&E for some 8 hrs. Our other 2 guests did go. They tried charge them for mine and my wife non attendance. Reversed that but charged my card. Pretty disappointed that they charged us at all. Over the years we’ve spent thousands of pounds with them . Maybe this is why they are going out of business ?

Food was exceptionally good and did not disappoint. Hurry, go to the restaurant before its august closure as it is cheap compared to its London comparatives.

Fine Dining is rarely a relaxing experience but this restaurant has managed to achieve the best of both worlds - modern casual dining with a fine-dining setup. There is no reason why this restaurant isn't one of the most popular in these parts.

As always a lovely meal , the highlight for my husband was the beef , he said it was amazing . I loved the tomato starter , who knew tomatoes could taste so good. Really sad te restaurant is closing, we are booked in for a last meal in August.

Amazing food it took 45 minutes for our first course to arrive which was a little too slow but then service was impeccable.
