Filomena is a wonderful place to have special occasions or just a fancy dinner. We've been there several times and each time it has been exquisite. If you aren't watching your waistline, anything in the Cardinale sauce is to die for. It can be a bit pricey, you get what you pay for and then some. Easily one of my favorites in the area and highly recommended. Can't wait for our next time back.

I have been going to Filomena’s since it opened (my dad knew the owners). After all these years, I still go several times a year and it’s my favorite restaurant in DC!

TLDR; Put off by the service. Insanely busy, very touristy, very loud, very crowded. Food is top notch. Try to come here on a weekday. 1) Noise - If you go on a weekend it will be very loud and very crowded. We went on a Saturday night. It was shoulder to shoulder and hard to have a conversation without yelling. If you go, I would recommend going on a weekday where it isn't so crazy. This probably isn't the ideal spot if you were looking to have a nice one-on-one dinner with your wife, husband, friend, etc. 2) Service - Our server did the bare minimum which is understandable given how busy it was. We were not ready to order our entrees, but we knew what we wanted for an appetizer. When we told him this we were told he wanted to get everything down at once and were rushed into ordering our entrees at that time as well, even though we didn't know what we wanted yet. I am not sure if this is standard practice in this restaurant, or if the server just wanted to make his life easier, but I expect MUCH more given the price of the menu. 3) Food - The saving grace of our experience was the food. We got the arancini and shrimp scampi for the appetizer. I had the linguini cardinale for my entree. All of it was amazing. It is expensive; expect to spend around $200-$300 for two people (more if you get a bottle of wine). But it was worth the price.
