The food was really good and the waitress had amazing energy. They even had a jazz band playing for brunch. It was a nice experience and I will definitely be returning

First time. Came highly recommended. My wife’s early birthday brunch. Chef / Owner Eric very hands on and interacting with each guests. Talked with us and took a picture with my wife. Everything was excellent including the band and music selection. We live in south Jersey, definitely coming back. Worth the trip

I love going to File I’ve sampled their lunch menu and dinner and both have been superb! Yesterday there was a Jazz band playing but one could still have a great conversation with friends and not have to shout!

It was definitely a little vibe! Went to celebrate best friend’s birthday on a Friday night and wanted authentic Creole/Cajun food. Food was absolutely delicious, appetizers especially. We ordered char-grilled oysters and Louisana BBQ shrimp to start and we both wanted more! The server was kind enough to bring us extra bread to sop up all of the DELICIOUS juices/gravy. We both had the spicy shrimp creole without the extra drizzle of chili oil and it was still EXTREMELY spicy. It was very flavorful, but again, EXTREMELY spicy. I fancy myself as having a high spice tolerance but I was defeated. We ordered a side dish of white rice to try to temper the heat but in the end, we couldn’t finish our entrees. So, in a takeout box they went. We finished our meal with the decadent chocolate praline cake, which was extra rich and chocolatey! (I’m also a sucker for a caramel drizzle) Absolutely worth the extra calories! Worth mentioning is the live 3-pc Jazz band that at the front of the restaurant and played tunes throughout the evening. Not sure if this is an everyday occurrence or just on weekends, but it was a treat. Overall, rating my experience 8 out of 10. Bon Appétit!

The overall taste and flavor is what’s lacking. Definitely only a take on Creole cusine because the flavor profile isn’t there. Also the prices for the dishes don’t match the quality. Great service overall. The side of macaroni and cheese is good and so is the drum fish. The gumbo was a 5 out of 10(lacked flavor and depth) Would I return, maybe but only for appetizers

Great fun as always. Fun atmosphere and good energy. The gumbo is as good as ever an it's not easy to find in NYC. chef/owner Eric is a great host

Had an amazing time or server Patty was incredible. Her food recommendation and drink recommendation was spot on. The Jazz Band they had playing made you feel like you were in New Orleans. And the manager Shavana was so friendly . You must try the sausage board the beignets or the shrimp and grits.

This was my first visit to the File Gumbo Bar to celebrate my best friend’s birthday, and I was surprised by my new spot's cozy and elegant interior. Did I mention the Jazz-playing trio that greets you upon entering the establishment? File Gumbo Bar offers Friday late-night live Jazz and weekend’s Jazzy Brunch. Let's get into the food, which is my favorite part. 😉. For the starter, we enjoyed the Iconic Jazz Fest crawfish bread, Louisiana BBQ, and Char-Grilled Oysters. I ordered a French Omelette with lump crab meat covered with Cajun hollandaise sauce and arugula salad as my main course.

I had been at File Gumbo Bar with friends for a birthday dinner and was excited that were going to have a Labor Day Brunch. We all came back with a friend that had not tried the restaurant before. Our waitress was very accommodating (we asked for 4 separate checks) and helpful in drink and food selections. The food as incredible, great presentation and wonderful flavors. I had the lump crabmeat omelet that was savory and a large portion of crabmeat provided. The vibe was great (jazz music playing) and just relaxed and chill! We we all be going back !!

Had another wonderful time at Filé Gumbo Bar. The food never fails to disappoint which is why I continue to return for my favorite brunch- Chef Eric at the helm Kevin working the gumbo urns and have been for dinner and happy hour. Impeccable service - Patty is always there with a smile and ready to make sure we always have a great experience! Thank you!
