Located in the center town of Ottawa (149 Kent Street), Festival Japan Restaurant has been serving the Ottawa community for more than 30 years. It provides a large variety of authentic Japanese food ranging from sushi, sashimi to hot plate including teriyaki chicken, steak and seafood prepared by Japanese chefs. High quality customer service and high quality food production are the basic principles of the restaurant.

When you're in downtown Ottawa looking for some authentic sushi and other Japanese favorites, head to Festival Japan. There you will find plenty of unique sushi offerings, hot off the grill specials and plenty of great drink options.

Start your dinner at Festival Japan with some apps like chef salad, gyoza or miso soup. There are plenty of grill items like chicken and steak teriyaki as well as combination plates with tempura and teriyaki.                                           Tasty food with generous portion. The steak was perfect, salad were very fresh. Shrimp tempura were big and yummy. Sushi combo had different types of sashimi rolls, worth to try. Service was great. Highly recommended.

                                          Most positive point was the ambience, as a band was playing Brazilian music which was very nice. Food was OK, but we expected more sophisticated cuisine since we were there toncelebrate an anniversary. Overalm, it was your typical asian restaurant.

                                          I went to Festival Japan for lunch for the first time in a number of years. They’ve redecorated and the decor is gorgeous. The food and service was a wonderful as always. My only critique would be the fact that they no longer serve “standalone” sushi at lunch; that is now only available at dinner. However, the lunch menu offered lots of choice and which included a sushi roll with most of the Bento box options. I will go again, for lunch and dinner, and highly recommend this restaurant.

                                          Good place to grab a bite for lunch or dinner. The salmon sashimi was fresh and buttery, the maki rolls (spicy salmon, spicy tuna, rainbow) were flavorful and uniquely dressed with possibly seaweed and horseradish. Service is friendly and casual. It’s not fine dining though and the restaurant’s current 4-star rating on OpenTable is too high. Ambiance feels like a bar and cafeteria in a basement. At one end of the space, there were a couple of tatami rooms and a few tables divided by screens. More of that would be great!

                                          Very good Japanese food and Saki. Would return again. Only negative for is is we like the older feel of restaurant (ambience) prior to the renovation .

                                          This a traditional Japanese restaurant, complete with tatami rooms. It is encouraging to know that such a place continues to exist, when everything else seems to be all you can eat sushi in a fast food atmosphere.
