As a bar-focused restaurant, we craft garden-to-glass cocktails served alongside Chef Joe Zobel's modern American cuisine inspired by West Sonoma County's abundance of biodiversity. Along with our menu of innovative and delicious dishes, the bar features house-made beer and spirit-free elixirs, as well as locally-sourced and small-production wines by the glass. Fern Bar's airy, plant-filled space can be found within The Barlow, Sebastopol's popular shopping and dining destination. Our outdoor dining room is covered with a heater next to every table, it still gets cold so bring a layer.

For quite some time now, I used to say Vern bar was my favorite restaurant. I can’t do that anymore. I think quality and consistency are slipping. The second to last time I was there, the umami bomb was horrible. That has been my favorite dish forever. Not so much anymore. The other evening I ordered a Creamsicle, I’ve had them many times. This time it just tasted like bitter orange juice. Really bad. I had to send it back. Not sure what’s going on, but they are no longer going to be might go to. Sorry.

Cute little restaurant with lots of charm and atmosphere. Lots of hanging plants and greenery around the seating area and interesting decorations. Overall, a very happy space. Service was great and the food was wonderful. We will be visiting here again soon!

The BEST drinks and food we had while visiting this area and St Helena. It was so amazing that I could pick basically anything from the menu (being gluten intolerant) and each and everything was so delicious. We had the pickles, pork skewers, friend chicken, kale salad and lamb sausage. I couldn’t begin to pick a favorite. The drinks were top notch as well. I can’t recommend this place enough!!!

The creativity of the cuisine, the quality and freshness of the ingredients, the fabulous cocktails, and the beautiful dining room in wonderful Sebastopol, California -- who could possibly ask for more? Not me. Always love Fern Bar!

The trout is one of the best dishes in the world. Wish there was pita or something to sop up all the sauce. Cocktails are fantastic works of palate art

They seemed to be short staffed because we seemed to have to wait a long time to sit even tho we had a reservation. Seever employees walked past and didn’t acknowledge us waiting. One server seemed to be working her tail off with little to no help. Once we had our order taken, our food arrived quickly. Our server even took back a drink that we didn’t care for. The food was spectacular - they just needed a little more staff that cared about the customer.

I love the ambiance and the way Fern Bar has a both a reliable favorites menu of cocktails and entrees etc and always adds some fresh ideas from the kitchen and the bar. I’m not shy to ask lots of questions about unusual ingredients I’m not familiar with and the staff is super friendly about explaining and willing to make suggestions. It’s a nice date night for dinner or a great cocktail any time.
