I wanted to love this place so much as the Grand Summit Hotel is very special to my family and I. However the experience was quite disappointing. Let me start by saying that the renovations are STUNNING. Very modern, it feels like a NYC restaurant. However it is SO loud, not sure if its the combination of the super large bar and open kitchen, or the wide open space with high tiled ceilings, but it is too loud. The service was sub-par; a few minutes after we sat down we were informed we had to order drinks, apps and entrees at the same time. It felt SO rushed. We ordered a martini and a glass of wine, and they arrived after we had already eaten our appetizer. The server was nowhere to be found to ask about our drinks. And when they finally arrived, the white wine was not chilled and the sweet martini was not made correctly. Its a simple drink: sweet vermouth, gin and a cherry. This was more like a punch. When we asked the waiter about it, he said he wasn't sure what that drink was and went to ask the bartender who told him he had used Hendricks (didn't really answer our question, nor did it provide the right drink). The rice balls appetizer looked fantastic, but didn't taste fresh; they tasted like they had been prepared far in advance. The shrimp pasta and salmon dishes were fantastic.

Excellent food. Great venue and atmosphere, but EXTREMELY loud. The staff will have permanent damage to their hearing.

We arrived for an 8:15 and were not seated until 840 which is late for dinner. Our food was OK but nothing special. The mushroom pizza was excellent though. The service was a bit of a mess. We ordered food to share, but they couldn’t figure out how to get a shared plates. We couldn’t find the waiter to order more drinks for a while. After dinner We asked for dessert menus, but instead someone came over to tell us our dinner would be there soon after we had already eaten dinner. We never did get dessert menus, but the check was just delivered. It just seems like the restaurant was rushed to be open and the service is not ready. And the food could use a little more flavor.

I wanted to love this restaurant, I really, really did. First off, there is no denying the physical space is GORGEOUS. From the tile ceiling to the chandeliers to the tables and chairs, even down to red and white napkins and vespa at the reception desk. The staff in their Italian cafe style white jackets...it sets the perfect tone when you walk in. And that's where it ended for me. The food falls far short of the space. There's just no other way to say it. I know they've only been open for a month, but it seems like in an effort to get the appearance right, they shorted the whole reason why people would come there. The one really good dish we all enjoyed was the calamari, it was light and hot, but that was the end of the highlights for us. The pizza is not great; maybe a step up from basic NJ bar pizza, with hard crust and little flavor. With so many great pizza places, including Neapolitan pizza places in the area, it just seemed like they took a shortcut on their recipe. The pastas came out cold, which is not a great thing when you order cicio e pepe as by the time it got to our table it was gelatinous. The flavor of the rigatoni Ragu was good, but again cold. We ended the meal with coffee and gelato....but it wasn't gelato. It was ice cream. There is a difference. And a note about the servers; ours touched us. A LOT. Every stop at our table was a chance for a pat on the shoulder or back, and someone should let them know that not everyone likes to be touched. They couldn't seem to pick up on the physical responses. They also rushed us through the meal, trying to get us out as soon as possible. We were asked if we were ready to order before they took our drink order, they asked if we wanted to get coffee while eating our meal, & they dropped our bill off early. Overall, it just felt like a weak attempt at an authentic Italian cafe. If they can get the food right, there's no doubt it will be a home run. But for now, it's just not very good.

Caesar salad overdressed. Sauce on chicken way over-salted. Brought shishito pepper appetizer with the main course so no one ate. Took plates away before finished eating. Pretty, fun-looking spot.

One in our group was GF and wanted pizza, but they put the pizza right on the spatula or rack (not on a pan) so there was a risk of cross-contamination. One of our party's pasta came late, and it was undercooked. Service seems to have some new restaurant glitches.
