What’s in the name you ask? We don’t really know, other than the fact that it has a good ring to it.

Nothing really about this place makes much sense. Are we a butcher shop or a restaurant? Are we a butcher shop inside of a restaurant? Or a restaurant inside of a butcher shop?

In our spare time we like to build fires and cook food over wood, you can hire us to do that. We make all of our own charcuterie in house, and we’re determined to get better at that everyday.

How do two concepts operate together in harmony? We don’t really know yet, but we will work at it ‘til it’s seamless. One thing we do know, all of the meat served and sold between these four walls is strictly derived from whole animals butchered in-house, sourced from happy places.

I’ve been a great fan, right from opening night, but returning for the fifth time yesterday I was disappointed. This time the scallops from the raw bar were sprinkled with chili pepper shavings which overwhelmed the scallop taste. I know they weren’t served this way last time (I took a picture), and they were sublime. The beef tartare was similarly disappointing. I’ve enjoyed it in two previous incarnations, but this time it came drenched in juice from the olives on top. Killed the dish, I’m afraid. The steak haché was delicious this time round too, but those little green peas (again, not there last time, if memory serves) add nothing to the dish. You might find some other way to add colour. The asparagus, on the other hand, were delicious (first time). I won’t be back soon, not until the menu changes, since the dishes that wowed me in the past seem to have been—spoiled (sigh!).

I kept asking myself - what they heck is happening? How is it that we are having this fabulous feast in St. Catherines right now? The adventure was totally worth it. They did not oversell what wizards they are. I was expecting good things from the butchery and the charcoots (truly amazing) - but where they actually blew my mind was on the veg dishes. The roasted cauliflower, the grilled lettuce with the taramasalata was -yowza. Nothing was overworked or overly "fused" - just clever and artfully surprising. Our experience was nicely delivered by a warm, excellently professional hostess/server. We will be back and have sent the insta on to several friends. Support people - let's get the word out so we can have this gem become a constant!

Best meal we had in a very long time. Oustanding food and service. Knowledgeable wait staff. The Menu was very intriguing and we enjoyed the mixed grill! Superb.

Solid food choices all around. Well crafted charcuterie served with some top notch cheese and accompaniments. And the meats are well aged flavourful and perfectly cooked as you might hope for from a craft butcher.

If you are a carnivore this is the place to dine. Quality meat from local farms prepared by a fantastic chef. Wine and beer selection outstanding as well.

Unique restaurant where you can pick your choice of meat from the display case. We had the green salad which was delicious (but expensive), the meat sampler - also delicious. But the cheeseburger was special. Probably the best burger I have had, period.

I have never had a concern with going to this restaurant. Everything is always outstanding. The food is super creative and delicious. The service is relaxed and informative. The cocktails are great. The wine list is different and always something great to try. I will continue to visit this restaurant for as long as it is around!
