Fat Hen, sister to La Brasa, is a small fifteen table, thirty seat restaurant that focuses on Pasta and Wine with an Italian roots. Our team focuses on guest experience and creating memories; from when you first walk through the door to when you take your final bite. Our passion for fine wines, thoughtful preparation, flawless technique and excellent quality local products is shown through our frequently changing seasonal menus. Very quaint restaurant with a tasty menu. We had a great time. Mangement acted as a host to our dining experience. Good job!

This is a truly great restaurant! The food is on the highest level of taste and imagination. If this was in NY it would probably be twice as expensive and not nearly as good. I've had the quail with rhubarb and it's out of this world and I just had the shrimp and gnocchi and couldn't believe how good it was . So lucky to have Fat Hen in Somerville!

We had an ok experience at Fat Hen. We chose to go there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We made a reservation for 7:00pm (the restaurant requires a credit card for reservations and threatens a $25 per person fee for no-shows and cancellations less that 24 hours in advance). We showed up exactly on time, but there were no staff members in front when we arrived. The restaurant was nearly empty with just one couple dining. We waited several minutes to be greeted and seated. Once seated, our server was friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was intimate and pleasant. However, we were disappointed by the food which was mediocre. We ordered three appetizers and two entrees. The burrata dish was under seasoned and watery - the charred lettuce had the same issues; the pork with candied strawberries was inventive but still only ok. My veal was dry and tough, and my husband’s short ribs were just alright. Fat Hen’s menu changes seasonally, so it’s possible that the current menu is just a dud - but we had been expecting a delicious meal, and so we were disappointed.

Have been here twice now, and always impressed with the food, and how accommodating and attentive the wait staff is.

Appetizers always delicious and varied. Oysters were great. Was a shame that out of all the pastas and entrees there was only one that was nonmeat. Just one veg pasta, no fish. The pastas were nice but greasy/oily. The carbonara was highly recommended but ended up being our table’s least favorite.

My husband and I wanted to do something different and special for his mother for Mother's Day. She did the 3 course mother's day dinner and my husband and I did the 4 course. The food for each course was delicious. Mom thought everything she had was great and it was dishes she hasn't had before. We definitely want to go back.

Accepted reservations for a Sunday, confirmed it, and they are not open on Sundays. Several other parties sat outside the restaurant after 5pm waiting for the doors to open. Hours on Apple and Google show they are open at 5pm on Sunday.
