Falansai: Where Vietnamese and Mexican Flavors Collide
Falansai is a unique culinary experience, blending the vibrant flavors of Vietnam and Mexico. Chef Eric Tran, a Vietnamese-Mexican himself, has created a menu that challenges traditional ideas of "American" cuisine.
Located in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn, Falansai offers a constantly evolving menu that utilizes seasonal and local ingredients. Expect an electric array of dishes that highlight fermentation, house-made charcuterie, and unexpected flavor combinations.
Start your meal with the must-try confit duck necks, a testament to Chef Tran's innovative approach. The menu also features a variety of other tempting options, including shaken beef, autumn rolls with red beet, and a veggie combo with Chinese okra, lotus roots, and spicy green beans.
Falansai's beautiful backyard with a water pond provides a relaxing and inviting atmosphere, perfect for small groups, romantic dinners, or anyone seeking a culinary adventure.
At $55 per person, the Dac Biet is a three-course tasting that starts with tostadas of the day & our signature Dad’s Egg Rolls served family style. The second course is a diner’s choice of one main event: Honey Glazed Pork Shoulder, Black Sea Bass, or Lemongrass Beef Skewers with a choice of seasonal noodles or rice. Final course is a chef’s choice dessert. All savory items are enjoyed with an abundance of house pickles, ferments, and sauces. Flavors and cooking techniques reflect Chef Eric’s heritage as a Vietnamese-Mexican American. We recommend full table participation. We can accommodate vegetarians and vegans.

At $88 per person, the SUPER Dac Biet is a five-course tasting, served family style, and enjoyed w/ an abundance of house pickles, ferments, and sauces. Flavors and cooking techniques reflect Chef Eric’s heritage as a Vietnamese-Mexican American. Diners typically receive 5 different savory plates in 2-3 waves, with accompaniments and dessert to finish. The first round of savories are interactive small plates that we encourage you to enjoy with your hands. The second round is a substantial course centered around a showcase protein. We recommend full table participation so that we have an opportunity to showcase and cook the most exciting seasonal products from our favorite farms, butchers, and fishmongers.

Food was delicious, service was great and wine list had some gems. Overall a nice night but we didn’t feel like the value of the tasting menu was worth it relative to the menu. One of the tasting menu courses was literally a single dumpling each. A few of us were still hungry after the full thing, was $85 per person without drinks, tax or tip. Would have preferred to order a bunch of dishes a la carte and share.
