After years of serving as a personal chef and operating Scratch Catering Chef Donny Strackbein opened his first restaurant just outside of his hometown of Jefferson Township (population 3814) in 2010. Six years later we are now bringing those same small town values, friendly service and fresh farm raised foods to our newest adventure The Fairview Cafe. We would be honored to have you dine with us. The crab cakes and skirt steak were excellent, tasty, and real crab. Tasty sauce on meat. Fresh hot roll to start….however, our dinners were cold, not warm or hot, but we were too hungry to send back.

If you looking to overpay for the tiniest entree portions ever…this is your spot. I paid $36 for the smallest cut rack of lamb which was tasty but also lukewarm with cold sides. The food was good but I wish I got more for money. It’s a cute little BYOB restaurant that has potential but unfortunately I won’t be back.

Good was delicious although on the skimpy side. I remember getting more on past visits. 3 medium sized scallops and about 1/8 cup of rice. At least there was room for dessert which is always a treat! They had a 3 piece band out on the porch and they were excellent. Overall always enjoy dining here.

The noise level during my meal on 6/14/24 was unacceptable but I don't blame it on the restaurant. There was a table of rude patrons who were clearly drunk. A couple at the next table over asked to be moved, it was that loud. I thought I would explain this in case someone else reports this in a review. Our dinner experience was fantastic as always. We had our fav goat cheese appetizer which hit a home run. I had the Cowboy Ribeye and my husband the Half Duck, both of which were scrumptious. I took home a generous piece of lemon meringue pie and it was sooo good.

My advice, come here for a slice of cake with your own drink since it’s a byob, then be on your way. If you intend to order any food I’d take your business elsewhere. All of our food was plain and we had to send back orders of the steamed clams. Staff was friendly but the food also took a while and the dishes are pricey. No kids meal either apparently the chef doesn’t want to add kids meals to the menu, as per our waitress. Friendly staff, bland food, great ambiance. Mixed bag all around.

Our meal was amazing, our waitress was friendly, prompt, & answered anynquestions we jad, including how the chef prepared my shrimp to perfection. Can't wait to come back!

The food was delicious and our server, Summer, was efficient, warm and friendly. Despite being the only front of house employee at the time, she juggled all of the tables without a complaint…we had a great meal and a great time.
