Our inspiration is the Zeus Faber… John Dory, one of many local fish that can be fished sustainably and from our shores and although it has a wonderful Latin come Greek name it also has a very British name, John Dory.

Faber is the Latin word for ‘Smith’ – Like a few other Latin occupational names (e.g. Agricola for farmer, Nauta for sailor). Smith being the most common name in English we decided it sits well with our name as we want to be accessible to all and give everyday people the opportunity to be part of our journey and own the business they work in.

What sets us apart is our commitment to working with local fishmongers who run out to the coast each evening to collect day-boat fish and local ingredients. This means that everything on our menu is fresh, sustainably sourced, and supports the local economy.

We believe in creating dishes that are not only delicious but also ethical and responsible.

My first time visiting Faber & what an amazing lunch we had. The freshness of the seafood is like nothing I've had in London. The scallops with cauliflower puree & pickled cucumber are a must for anyone who loves shellfish, as was the plaice with cafe de Paris butter. Staff were very knowledgeable & helpful & all in all the ambiance matched the quality of service. I'll definitely be returning.

We have dined at Faber several times and wish it well. On Saturday, it had a good (and improved) menu including vegetarian options. The £6.50 glasses of Chapel Down were a generous offer. And the quality of the food was fine. I think staff could have been a bit quicker to hand out menus and remove plates between courses: and my sea bass fillet was a bit small. But overall it was a very good evening and it was plain that diners throughout were having a lovely time.

Fish Restaurant with a definite desire to deliver best of British ingredients which obviously doesn't come cheap. Sea bass was fine if rather a small portion.Green salad was literally lettuce.Friend had an excellent piece of fish with chips.A very comfortable environment with a wonderful server called Jasper, very helpful taking obvious pleasure in his work.Overall we enjoyed the experience.

The best oysters I have tasted in London, delicious lobster croquettes, chalk stream trout tartare was amazing, brown crab in béchamel sauce fabulous and some delicious English sparkling wine. We will definitely be back, super service from the team , they couldn’t have been more friendly.

Food was lovely, great fresh fish. (Had 2 from the daily board) The English sparking wines were very over priced (won’t mention the mark up here, but seems excessive, especially for a mediocre sample of the English wines available) Not quite as cosy as what a neighbourhood restaurant could be.
