Estrella Negra offers Mexican cuisine with updated flair. Its walls and tables are decorated with local artist artwork for a complimentary visual appeal. Featured on television shows such as Check Please! WGN 9 News and Chicago's Best, Estrella Negra is located on West Fullerton Avenue in the Bucktown/ Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. Local chef Otoniel Michel serves up Mexican gourmet street food with the likes of eclectic tamales and empanada samplers. Feast on their award winning tamarind wings, mango salsa enchiladas, goat cheese quesadillas, tacos, burritos and everyones favorite mommas home made pozole. Made both chicken and vegan. Estrella Negra serves a separate brunch menu on Sundays and provides several vegetarian options. It has a full bar with craft cocktails and house recipe collaboration beers. Estrella Negra welcomes reservations. Delivery and take-out services are also available.

Excellent as always. Estrella Negra never disappoint s. Food was Excellent. Went steak torta this time, highly recommended. Service was good, place is cozy, and very cool. Drinks are great. 5 stars.

Nice little place in Bucktown. Zero pretention, no frills, super relaxed and friendly. Appetizers were great - as a Buffalonian, I was hesitant to order their wings. But much to my surprise, this Chicago establishment has one heck of a tasty wing sauce! Traditional Mexican fare was terrific, especially the items with chorizo. The Wednesday night jazz ensemble was terrific, wonderful atmosphere.

First time at this cute neighborhood spot. Food was great and so was the service! Margaritas were next level.

The food was absolutely incredible, and distinctive. Cocktails were made quickly and super flavorful. The staff was friendly and attentive as well. Highly recommend.

Love this little restaurant! Everything from the drinks to the main course was absolutely delicious. Our knowledgeable server gave great suggestions. The cochina ice cream sandwich with bacon bits was a sweet ending. Be sure to try the tamales and pozole. Such a gem on this corner of Fullerton!

Went for dinner at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon. The place was lively, even though it was just a few minutes into being open for the day. Our server quickly acknowledged me and showed our reserved table, but also offered other seating if we wanted. Cocktails We looked over the menu for drinks and decided on our order, which was pretty quickly taken to the bar - classic margarita and el tren. They were delicious! There are so many to choose from, there's something for everyone. We were also offered a special magical concoction for St Patrick's - a green shot of mezcal, infused with jalapeño, and garnished with cilantro, served in a pot with gold coins! Food We ordered Diablito Shrimp and shrimp ceviche, the first a lovely spicy dish served hot, the latter served cold in a tasty curing juice, with a topping of guacamole. These came with a side of nachos. Highly recommend either, both. Next were the pozole rojo and la corona burger - the soup had a nice kick to it, without being spicy, good viscosity, and abundance of meat and accompaniments (red onion, guac, etc.) The corona burger was nicely sized, the meat well prepared, just a nice fusion addition to the more traditional dishes we ordered. Overall greatly enjoyed our entire experience. The restaurant is vibrant though not obnoxiously noisy, with various seating options, including booths. They are and have kid friendly menu options. The cocktail options are aplenty, amply portioned, and delicious. Try the bandera shot! The service was excellent, quick, on point. The staff was lovely and friendly, made us feel like old friends. I recommend this place for a great atmosphere and a fun fusion take on traditional Mexican dishes.
