Classic (mostly) American fare made extremely flavorful. Everything about Essex is fairly unassuming - from its location - walking in initially felt one part sports bar, one part dimly lit rendezvous point - to its menu. But what appeared to be traditional steak, Mac and cheese, a burger and fries with green salad was more like circuit training for our taste buds. Nothing looked fancy, but every sumptuous bite was filled with so much flavor, it left no question as to why this place is so consistently, highly rated. We went on a Monday evening when the restaurant was sparsely populated, so it felt like we were partaking in a cozy little secret, but I'm certain that Essex is a favorite amongst those who are in the know. What I know for sure is, no crumbs were left and the next time I'm looking for dinner in the area, I know where to go.

We were pleasantly surprised with this choice - excellent food, thoughtful service, and comfort. It was quiet and more or less empty at around 9:00 PM, but got louder when the bar got busy around 10:00/10:30. A great choice of restaurant for the area and the value. Would definitely go again.

The service is friendly and attentive. From the moment you enter until you leave, the staff does their best to make you feel welcome. The food is well presented but preparations are hit or miss. My mom loved her salmon. My chicken was meh.

Unlike other bottomless brunch places, the drinks were a lot more high quality. We had a group of 8 people, everyone loved their food and drinks. Highly recommend this place!

Went for NY Restaurant Week brunch. It was great! Delicious food & super attentive staff. Our waitress, Katie, was so fun. Best bottomless brunch we've done yet in the city. Would recommend!

Great experience! Me and my friend went there to try the restaurant week menu. Loved the steak...and the cherry on top was the passion fruit panna cotta.

Came here for restaurant week! Food and service were great, we ordered prosciutto di parma and duck meatballs to start, ribeye for our entree and it was definitely worth it, was COOKED PERFECTLY!! We ordered flourless chocolate cake and panna cotta for our desserts! Overall, we had a great time! Would definitely make reservations again for their happy hour and weekend bottomless brunch!!

I came here with my partner for restaurant week dinner and I was impressed! Food is very good with so much flavor, staff so attentive and polite, the atmosphere was so nice and enjoyable. Definitely recommend! Thank you for having us, we’ll be back soon to try some more stuff!

Great place for brunch! All the food was delicious. It did get a little noisy and rowdy with some larger parties really taking advantage of the bottomless mimosas lol but we still had a great time!
