Went for an anniversary dinner. Appetizer (Flatbread) was good but main course (especially my wife’s Gorgonzola shrimp) was very disappointing. 6 shrimp ( med to large at best) served with toast. My wife is not a big eater but she headed for the fridge when we got home.

Excellent food, service and ambience. We had butter chicken and the lamb kefta. Both were awesome .

We had a great time at The Essex. The location is close to so many venues and events uptown. Wonderful dinner and service. I loved the warmed Brussels sprouts salad. I had the grilled salmon with it. It was a big portion too. My husband had the gnocchi and he said it was great. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine with dinner, as well. Lots of interesting wine choices. Nice chilled vibe in the dining area. Bar has its own cool upbeat style, too. Nice patio, too. We were heading to a Jazz show after dinner and our server was really helpful about keeping us on schedule. We will be back!

The food was good as usual, but found it strange that they were out of their most popular cocktails and a certain brand of vodka, disappointed to know that a restaurant/bar runs out of alcohol.

We had a large group and our waiter Deni(sp?) couldn’t have been more helpful, friendly, and attentive. He offered suggestions for meals and drinks, provided details, and gave options for those who wanted an extra or substitution. We had a wide range of menu items and were all very happy with our food. Bar service was also very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

We were seated in a very uncomfortable booth and asked to change tables. Another group was also seated there and had to move. Our waiter was very pleasant and knowledgeable but ruined the ambiance at the end of the meal with his abrupt presenting of the bill. He did not ask if we wanted anything else, just brought the machine and announced the amount. We ordered the same meal and were told they only had enough to make one. (At 5:30). The food was very good - grilled octopus and shrimp and grits. The restaurant was not busy and the abruptness at the end negated much of the pleasant ambiance.
