Nice meal. Staff great. Lamb rump was warm not hot in temperature and quite fatty. Others in the party had no complaints. Cocktails are very expensive. A lovely venue for special occasion. Couldn't afford it to be regular Indian restaurant of choice though.

Congratulations to all involved in the creation of this wonderful new restaurant in Tunbridge Wells. Essence elevates the Indian fine dining experience with its exquisitely crafted flavours and premium levels of service and comfort. I had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant on a Sunday evening with my extended family. Although quiet, the dining room exuded a warm frequency that allowed for an instantly relaxed vibe. The menu is, as you would expect, not your traditional British Indian fare, but a showcase of regional authentic cuisine, given the full Atul Kochar treatment. There is also a great children's menu which was great for our purposes. Essence also offers a tasting menu with wine pairings for a more immersive experience, definitely something to enjoy next time! Essence is a wonderful addition to the Pantiles and I hope it can become a go-to destination for years to come for the privileged diners of Tunbridge Wells and beyond..

very much a destination experience - really great to try differently spiced food. recommend the chicken tikka pie as starter

The food was incredible. The best Indian we have ever had! Exquisite. Staff very helpful and friendly, could have provided menues and taken drinks order quicker. Would 100% recommend and return

Not your normal curry experience. Outstanding food and service. If you stick to the set menu it's an affordable treat.

Fantastic meal and the staff couldn’t be any friendlier and offered great recommendations when asked. Will definitely be dining there again soon.

Birthday treat for close friend - excellent meal - delicious food and superb service. We ordered two courses each from the set lunch menu - fantastic. To top it off our waiter brought my friend a birthday desert as a treat - which made my guest feel very special - thank you. We will definitely come again.

Food was amazing, every dish very flavourful and the right level of spice. They didn’t have one of the dishes we first asked for (the lamb shank Rogan Josh) but the boneless lamb dish they suggested was delicious (albeit not a large size)

We booked Essence for a birthday evening and it didn’t disappoint. Lovely atmosphere and ambience, and service was very attentive. Food was consistently of a high standard and good value for money when compared to other venues around the Pantilles. We’ll be back
