Since 2011, EMei has emerged as one of Philadelphia's premier dining destinations, celebrated for its authentic Chinese cuisine curated by Master Chef Zhao and a team of 6 wok chefs that born and trained in the Sichuan region of China.
Boasting over 50 years of expertise in mastering Sichuan cuisine, Chef Zhao skillfully infuses dishes with bold chili oils, aromatic peppercorns, and expertly seasoned cuts of fish, meat, and produce.
Situated conveniently in Chinatown, EMei diligently procures fresh ingredients daily. With a menu featuring 120 items, including house-made egg rolls and dumplings, we take pride in crafting everything in-house. This commitment not only ensures quality but also enables us to offer a wide selection of gluten-free and vegetarian options.

Gluten free Chinese options are hard to find, and this place is a gem! We felt safe eating there with 3/5 of our group with celiac. Regardless of that; the food was so good. Green beans were a little salty; otherwise not a single complaint.

Excellent gluten free options!! The food was fantastic! I loved the walnut shrimp so much I ate the entire ENORMOUS PORTION!!

Very good traditional Sichuan restaurant with a nice mix of vegetarian, seafood, and meat dishes. The traditional 1 chili / 2 chili / 3 chili heat scale did not help us as we thought the 1 chili dishes were fairly mild (admittedly we are seasoned spicy food eaters). Wish we had more courage to try some of their specialties which were mostly 3-star. Service better than typical ethnic restaurant. Value excellent.

Service was nice and waiters took great care to account for allergies. Food portions are huge so value is great! HOWEVER, most of the food we ordered(wantons and twice cooked pork belly) were extremely salty. I am a native sichuanese person and even I have not tried a dish so salty.

Idk what happened. Normally we love this spot for its authentic recipes, excellent service and a fun time. It’s a shame they no longer have the ordering app, which was always a novel experience there. Our food came out all at different times, one dish came after we had finished. The food wasn’t special or cooked with any flair. Very average. I’m so saddened by this experience. The hardest part was the noise, literally needed to yell for my companion to hear me. Not sure I’ll be back any time soon. Bummed.

My son and I went for dinner. There was a lively crowd there for a Wednesday night which made our meal a little more fun but also we had to yell at each other across the table. The food was fine - we might have ordered wrong. We found the food tasty, except for the dumplings, which were fairly tasteless. There was a liberal use of hot oil, which we did not love - but maybe that is just how this style of food is? Our waiter was friendly but very busy. Would try it again and order differently.
