Since 2011, EMei has emerged as one of Philadelphia's premier dining destinations, celebrated for its authentic Chinese cuisine curated by Master Chef Zhao and a team of 6 wok chefs that born and trained in the Sichuan region of China.
Boasting over 50 years of expertise in mastering Sichuan cuisine, Chef Zhao skillfully infuses dishes with bold chili oils, aromatic peppercorns, and expertly seasoned cuts of fish, meat, and produce.
Situated conveniently in Chinatown, EMei diligently procures fresh ingredients daily. With a menu featuring 120 items, including house-made egg rolls and dumplings, we take pride in crafting everything in-house. This commitment not only ensures quality but also enables us to offer a wide selection of gluten-free and vegetarian options.

It's been a while since we've eaten in Chinatown and this was well worth the visit. This is true Szechuan cooking, with some clearly labeled dishes coming quite spicy - not burn your face off - but a wonderful tingly sensation from the right blend of spices and oils. We had the whole sea bass with spicy sauce and it was terrific. Watch the bones of course. Dan dan noodles were flavorful and sting beans terrific. Highly recommend it.

Very authentic sichuan (northern Chinese style) food. The space is quite noisy, but the food is great.

Every aspect is top notch. It’s casual and comfortable. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable. The food arrives so quickly. And every single item we ordered was phenomenal. Wouldn’t change one single thing!!!

Excellent food. Extensive menu. Good ambiance. Good service. My go to place for out of town visitors.

I was not satisfied with the food (I tried dry frog). The place looks good but I think the food was not.

There has been quite a lot of “buzz” about EMei recently but sadly my experience suggests the restaurant is overrated. It began with a maitre’d who was swamped by patrons ordering and picking up takeout orders and took forever to seat us. Then the waiter was slow to take our order. EMei’s menu is amazing and includes just about anything you would want from a Chinese restaurant, but the flavors ended up being nothing to write home about. The decor was plain and didn’t suggest anything Asian. I’ll keep looking for the best of Philadelphia’s Chinatown.

The food is outstanding, the service is very good and our bartender made the best Negroni I’ve ever had (and that’s saying something!)

My favorite restaurant -- great food and usually a good experience. Unfortunately tonight was a terrible service experience. No one took our order until the waiter asked if we ordered already (we still had a menu) and then the waiter told us they were sorry and someone else is supposed to have our table. No one else handled our table -- no tea, no water refill, etc. Eventually we finished and sat around and ultimately I asked the same person who took our order for boxes and the bill.
