Since 2011, EMei has emerged as one of Philadelphia's premier dining destinations, celebrated for its authentic Chinese cuisine curated by Master Chef Zhao and a team of 6 wok chefs that born and trained in the Sichuan region of China.
Boasting over 50 years of expertise in mastering Sichuan cuisine, Chef Zhao skillfully infuses dishes with bold chili oils, aromatic peppercorns, and expertly seasoned cuts of fish, meat, and produce.
Situated conveniently in Chinatown, EMei diligently procures fresh ingredients daily. With a menu featuring 120 items, including house-made egg rolls and dumplings, we take pride in crafting everything in-house. This commitment not only ensures quality but also enables us to offer a wide selection of gluten-free and vegetarian options.

E Mei provided a superb meal for my party of five. The hostess was very accommodating (we had to change our arrival time). The food, as ever, superb. Included in our meal was the cucumber salad (outstanding), the pancakes (very yummy), the pork egg rolls, a chicken and eggplant dish that was just superb. The server was helpful; the food arrived in good order. My only very small issue is that our large round table would have benefited from a lazy Susan, to facilitate sharing dishes.

Regarding the lazy Susan, due to safety considerations, we have not installed it in public areas to prevent potential accidents, such as children playing and accidentally spilling hot water, which could cause burns. EMei accommodated our party of 12 and the staff was fantastic. They took our orders at a relaxing pace and were attentive the entire night. The menu was extensive offering a combination of unique dishes (we had the snow pea leaves saute as well as the Dry-Fry Wok chicken and hot and spicy bowl. The beef chow fun and other noodle entrees and appetizers were delicious with flavorful hot pepper spice. Very nice bar offerings. Ready to dine there again soon!

The service was horrible. Some us had great food and others so do. My food came out before the apps. We had to ask for the rest of our parties food. One still didn’t come until we had to ask again. No apologies at all from the staff.

In Chinese cuisine, dishes are often prepared and served as they are ready, Chinese cuisine varies in difficulty for each dish, which can lead to some dishes arriving at different times. Gluten free Chinese options are hard to find, and this place is a gem! We felt safe eating there with 3/5 of our group with celiac. Regardless of that; the food was so good. Green beans were a little salty; otherwise not a single complaint.

Excellent gluten free options!! The food was fantastic! I loved the walnut shrimp so much I ate the entire ENORMOUS PORTION!!

Very good traditional Sichuan restaurant with a nice mix of vegetarian, seafood, and meat dishes. The traditional 1 chili / 2 chili / 3 chili heat scale did not help us as we thought the 1 chili dishes were fairly mild (admittedly we are seasoned spicy food eaters). Wish we had more courage to try some of their specialties which were mostly 3-star. Service better than typical ethnic restaurant. Value excellent.
