Since 2011, EMei has emerged as one of Philadelphia's premier dining destinations, celebrated for its authentic Chinese cuisine curated by Master Chef Zhao and a team of 6 wok chefs that born and trained in the Sichuan region of China.
Boasting over 50 years of expertise in mastering Sichuan cuisine, Chef Zhao skillfully infuses dishes with bold chili oils, aromatic peppercorns, and expertly seasoned cuts of fish, meat, and produce.
Situated conveniently in Chinatown, EMei diligently procures fresh ingredients daily. With a menu featuring 120 items, including house-made egg rolls and dumplings, we take pride in crafting everything in-house. This commitment not only ensures quality but also enables us to offer a wide selection of gluten-free and vegetarian options.

Our waiter was friendly and helpful in pointing out foods we might like after we told him how much spice we liked (two of us liked alot, one wanted a little less). We ordered the mapo tofu, a cumin lamb dish, and kung pao chicken. It was all excellent - the lamb dish, which we hadn't had before but was recommended by the waiter was amazing. Would definitely return.

Dumplings were doughy. Waitstaff not friendly. Singapore noodles were not tasty. Definitely not great food.

Food was good. Was quickly seated and served. Was noisy and hard to hear conversations at your own table because they’re so close. But I would visit again, drinks were good too

We liked the food a lot- the dry string beans were excellent as was the whole fish (although there wasn’t much fish “there”). The tea soaked duck was horrible- so dry and really inedible. We will go back, we just have to order better.

Delightful experience; quick service and delicious food. Even for a Tuesday night it was packed and the restaurant had a great vibe. Will be back :)

Wide menu; excellent food. Adequate ambience for Chinatown RESTRAUNT. OK service. A bit slow but worth it. Prices are very fair and food ample. We definitely plan to return. So far best in class in Chinese food in city so far. We have tried many.

We enjoyed the food and had a pleasant meal. However, the table we were seated at was extremely small, making it difficult to eat comfortably without knocking things over. While our server was very nice and polite, we were disappointed that, despite having a reservation and arriving early, we were not seated on time—even though there appeared to be plenty of available tables. Additionally, the hostesses at the front entrance were not particularly helpful or welcoming, nor appreciative of our patience.
