Ember Yard is the fourth restaurant from Salt Yard Group and has been influenced by our travels around Spain and Italy and their methods of cooking over charcoal and wood.

We commissioned and custom built a bespoke, Basque-style grill and sourced some amazing single species sustainable charcoal and wood from Kent to cook with. We use only the finest seasonal produce, and introduce – as has become our style – our spin on flavours of Spain and Italy.

Ember Yard is located in the heart of Soho and is a lovely two storey restaurant and bar, with an open plan kitchen on the ground floor and a cool and cosy bar on the lower ground floor. The same delicious menu is available throughout and we encourage you to come along before you dine to sample one of our specially created Ember-themed cocktails.

The food was nothing spectacular at all, very small portions for a sharing concept even for just two people. Food came out in intervals and cold. Couldn’t find a waiter to order extra dishes, by the time they did arrive the idea of waiting for a new order was not appealing. There was a large group they were seated right in the middle of the dining floor and they were LOUD made the remainder of the evening unbearable. The ambition was a laid back tapas bar to catch up with an old friend over good food and drinks. That they did not deliver, it was excruciating and would very unlikely return, unless I am part of the obnoxiously loud large group who dominated the restaurant, then I would definitely return.

Having read the mixed reviews, we booked last minute on a Friday and the availability of tables should have been a warning. Firstly, the ambience in a warm London evening was good, open windows, nice decor and some outside tables, but a lack of coordination from staff meant it was slow to be seated, Menu choice is limited but the Jamon croquettes were excellent, the rest was pretty poor, a garlic bread seemed an odd choice, and the beef skewers were fatty and unpleasant, the tuna was oddly like warm and the marinade and dressing tasteless, jamon was oddly warm and the prawns were ordered never appeared ( one of the waitress kindly offered to take them off the bill !! As if we would pay for them !) The cocktails were good and nicely presented, the sangria not so good. Ambience and setting good, food not ! With so many tapas in London, not one to try again

Went for wedding anniversary dinner and it was great! Took the chef table to watch the guys at work in the kitchen and had an awesome time, perhaps a little warm on the hottest day of the year but was treated to complimentary drink for our anniversary and had a great time.

The greatest thing about the Ember Yard is that it’s been consistently reliable for years. It’s great tapas, good value, a really varied drinks and wine list and good service too. You can’t say this about many places in Soho these days. It’s great to know I can get a good quality experience every time, for which I am ever so grateful.

We shared small cheese and charcuterie, octopus, duck, mackerel, salt cod, and broccoli between two. Food, pace of service, and ambience, all excellent! Would return in a heartbeat.

Really good food. Grilled octopus carpacio was to die for! Good portion size for tapas type of food.

We needed a last minute restaurant for a Friday night with family. It was good and most of the dishes were fairly well executed. As a party of 6 we ended up going for the chefs choice tasting menu. Every thing came out quickly, but the dishes were only luke warm when they would have been better hot. They seemed to rush through our order which was a pity as you didn’t get to enjoy each of the dishes like you do in Spain! Would still return and recommend for those that want to try some Spanish cuisine.
