Ēma is a Mediterranean and California-inspired restaurant from Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants located at 1320 Patriot Blvd. The menu, crafted by Chef Partner CJ Jacobson features spreads, dips and assorted mezze, Mediterranean small plates, with an emphasis on Hummus & Spreads, Raw, Vegetables and Kebabs. Signature dishes include Moroccan Onion Dip, Spinach & Feta Spread, Tahini Caesar Salad, Octopus Carpaccio and Spicy Brisket Kefta Kebab.

The beverage program showcases cocktails with flavors crafted from Mediterranean ingredients like chinola, fig, fresno chile and coriander. The wine program, curated by Sommelier John C. Slatter, features a globally sourced list of over 70 selections with a strong focus on wineries practicing organic and natural production across the Mediterranean, including ancient grape varieties from Greece, Lebanon and Italy.

It is always the expectation to grant some grace and patience when a new restaurant opens. Often they are working through the process to ensure smooth service with new staff, new space, new kitchen, new customers. Clearly, this concept was implemented by well seasoned hands. The execution was absolutely flawless! The food was perfectly timed. The drinks were very well balanced, beautiful and delicious!! Our server was very knowledgeable of the drink as well as the dining menu. We were grateful and trusted his recommendations as they lived up to the hive one after another! I am so happy to have this option in the neighborhood.

The Glenview location was very underwhelming in regards to the food. I’ve eaten a few times at the Ema in downtown where the food is flavorful, served at the right temp, and hits the spot. The food at the Glenview location does not live up to the name or the cost. Also our waiters stood next to our table as we paid the bill and calculated tip, and this added pressure led to a tipping mistake. The waiters wouldn’t redo the transaction. Overall a less than satisfactory experience.

Great food and service. I also really appreciate that there is a family bathroom. This will allow my father to bring my mother here as she would need assistance.

It was so delicious! I went for my anniversary with my whole family. I ordered the chicken kebab which was out of this world! The hummus was a great side to eat with it. My only request would be to add more items to the menu that are dairy free since we don’t mix milk and meat. Other than that, it was such a treat and I can’t wait to go back again!

They failed to acknowledge the engagement of our kids, which I put on the reservation as reason for coming. Tapas like portions for full meal prices. Almost French-like in paying alot for a little.

The positives: the decor is lovely. The service was exceptional. We really enjoyed the appetizers/spreads (almond garlic dip, and spicy halloumi ) main courses - chicken Kafka and Spicy Tuna, a little less so. The cons: extremely expensive across the board. And then adding an extra percent service chargebecause of “rising costs” ??? They JUST just opened and clearly prices have been adjusted to accommodate rising costs. It’s just not a good look. Also, the bar is very small. I think we’ll be back but have doubts about the valued proposition.

Beautiful restaurant and good service. We felt the food was only ok and overpriced- especially for the portion sizes.

It’s fantastic to finally see downtown-quality dining in the suburbs. Ema delivered both in terms of food and service, meeting high standards on both fronts. A great addition to the local restaurant scene.
