Elske means love in Danish, a nod to both David Posey’s Danish mother and the fact that the couple got engaged in Copenhagen. “Our travels in Denmark have really influenced us,” Chef Posey said. “We like that clean, simple aesthetic.” The dining room — all crisp lines, minimalist décor & soft lighting — is anchored by a wide open kitchen on one side & a small patio with a working fireplace on the other. Combined with the friendly service, it creates the impression that you’re eating in a supremely tasteful Scandinavian friend’s weekend home.

    We love everything about Elske. The food is superb! The drinks are so unique and the staff is so professional and so knowledgeable. We celebrate my birthday and our anniversary there every year.

    Loved every bite! I especially appreciated being able to make vegetarian substitutions for the meat courses. And the service was exceptional! Jeg elske Elske ❤️!

    We’ve been through many great restaurants in Chicago. We had high expectations for Elske. Unfortunately the food was borderline to mediocre. Several ingredients in each course were just there, some overpowering others, no art in making them blend together. The presentation of all dishes was also not impressive. Sad. The outside pateo was nice but I couldn’t believe we had to ask for seat cushions that were available but not offered. Seriously, iron outdoor chairs for a degustation dinner of 2 hours at least? The staff was super nice but unfortunately they couldn’t make up for the fundamental flaws of a restaurant that is not concerned in exceeding customer’s expectations at all. We went back home very frustrated.
