Elske means love in Danish, a nod to both David Posey’s Danish mother and the fact that the couple got engaged in Copenhagen. “Our travels in Denmark have really influenced us,” Chef Posey said. “We like that clean, simple aesthetic.” The dining room — all crisp lines, minimalist décor & soft lighting — is anchored by a wide open kitchen on one side & a small patio with a working fireplace on the other. Combined with the friendly service, it creates the impression that you’re eating in a supremely tasteful Scandinavian friend’s weekend home.

One of the best meals we've had in Chicago this year, maybe ever. We can't wait to go back.

We had a great experience doing the set menu with the additional wine tasting. It took about an hour and 45 mins start to finish and had a good pace. The staff was friendly too!

Meal was excellent and the service was great. We went on a Thursday night, and the restaurant was less busy. We ordered the sampling menu with wine parings, and with tip, our bill came to $250 per person. So I would reserve this restaurant only for very special occasions.

Amazing, we had such a fantastic time and the food was incredible. Complex but simple, a real wonder! The flavours are incredible and the servers were lovely and informative. Thank you for a beautiful night!

The food was just okay, with the only standout being the sausage dish. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow, which really detracted from the experience. Having been to other Michelin-starred restaurants, it's hard to understand how this one earned its star. That said, the atmosphere is pleasant, especially the patio area. With so many fantastic dining options in Chicago, I’d recommend skipping this one. For comparison, Galit which also has 1 Michelin star, offers far superior food and service.

Food was inventive and mostly delicious. Pacing for the tasting menu was nicely done. Wine pairings were unique and well matched—enjoyed wines we would not have ordered otherwise. Biggest disappointment was our service. Descriptions of the food and wine were always rushed. Mumbled. Too soft to be heard among the dining room noise. We had to ask both our main server and those bringing our plates to repeat or go deeper with their descriptions. Many servers seemed joyless when describing the beautiful dishes. The descriptions and details of such an inventive tasting menu adds so much enjoyment and memorable impact to a dinner like this. We often missed the ingredients in a sauce or topping or garnish. Really a shame.

Absolutely wonderful experience. The evening started off with complimentary champagne for our anniversary which was lovely. My partner and I choose the a la carte menu and had five dishes and a dessert. Every dish that came out was not only delicious, but beautiful. The food was such a nice balance of creative presentation, but all with a purpose for elevating each part of the dish.

We went here just a couple hours after getting engaged, which we told the staff about half an hour before we arrived. Everyone was super friendly and congratulatory and the food was delicious as always; it was a perfect experience. We’re so happy we came to Elske for our engagement dinner! Will always recommend
