Elk Ave Prime is located in the heart of downtown Crested Butte on Elk Avenue. We feature hand carved Prime and Wagyu steaks, Colorado lamb, Elk, Buffalo, fresh Seafood, farm to restaurant garden salads and more.

We feature many beers on tap, most of which are Colorado born, as well as the largest wine selection in the valley. You can enjoy any of our drinks from our outdoor patio or cozy up next to our fireplace, great after a long day of skiing.

Elk Ave Prime is one of the largest venues in Crested Butte, ideal for large parties or wedding receptions.

My wife had a filet mignon, I had the elk steak. It was delicious, both cooked perfectly. We also split a Caesar salad, mashed potatoes & crispy brussels sprouts. Amy was our great waitress. We enjoyed the experience.

Service and experience was good as always. My steak was over cooked, asked for med-rare and came out charred and med-well. Disappointed considering it's $70 lol! Didn't send it back because we were celebrating an anniversary and didn't want to fuss. Otherwise was a good night.

Went for dinner for a friends birthday. Everything was good, nothing was great. Nice place, good steak, good sides and a good wedge salad. Service was decent. I ordered a $300 bottle of wine, server did not refill our glasses. Not a big deal but I kind of expected a bit better service. I’d go back the next time I’m in Crested Butte but I won’t go in expected to be blown away by anything great. Good but not great.

Highly recommend the grilled artichoke appetizer, which is like a high end artichoke dip with the grilled artichokes on the side. We ate it with the bread and it was a perfectcomfort food. Excellent side dishes - the miso carrots were salty-sweet, and the truffle fries were perfect. Barrel Aged Banana Manhattan was delicious! We were very disappointed with the steak. For a steakhouse, and the price, we expected better. It was as if it had been charred to the point of bitterness on the outside, and with next to no flavor. It was as if the outside was seared at such a high temperature that it went straight to burned on the grill marks. Our server had explained that they use simple salt, pepper, rosemary, and wagyu fat to cook, but it seemed to be lacking even those basic elements. To be clear, we weren’t expecting more than a really nicely cooked piece of meat, but it just really missed the mark. We love steak and came out specifically for a nice, simple steak to share and some tasty sides. We didn’t bring it up at the time, and the rest of the meal was really tasty. It’s just a shame to spend $89 on a steak and have it turn out so poorly. Highly recommend the rest of our meal and our server, and the bar is fantastic. Maybe we were just there on an off night for the meat? We’ve been coming to CB for decades and love to hold some meals aside for the nice restaurants in town. We might think twice next time about the steak…

Everything was really really good, but a couple of pointers. My martini was only 2/3 full x 2, the roasted mushrooms were just so-so (maybe too much glaze) and the creamed spinach also just so-so. The Lamb rack and scallops were on target-perfect, delicious. For the prices, I just felt everything should be awesome.

Good was delicious. While the steak was excellent, the sides are even better. Brittney was a great server - very attentive.

Absolutely amazing meal. My family actually started, built, owned, and ran the Idelspur back in the 90's when it was a steakhouse and brewery. We went to Maxwells all the time after they took it over. When the Higgins owned it and changed the name to Elk Ave Prime, me and my little brothers worked there, it was my very first job. I hadn't been back in years since it switched to the new ownership but my husband and I decided to try it out again for our very first wedding anniversary. The staff were amazing, gave us complimentary champagne & dessert, they made us feel so special. I was very impressed by the food quality, service and everything about it. The steak was cooked perfectly. The appetizers were phenomenal and the wine was delicious. Highly recommend the crab cakes, mushrooms, tuna tartare, new york strip, chocolate torte thingy and everything else on the menu. I am very happy that the new ownership has clearly put time and money into this restaurant, it made me feel nostalgic and so grateful. I can't wait to show my grandmother and father how wonderful their old family restaurant has become. 10/10
