Elevator has been open at 161 North High Street for over twenty years but did you know that the building has played host to great food and cold drinks since it was finished in 1897? Today, we uphold the history and craftsmanship of the space reflected in our fresh, seasonal menu and our expansive beverage program, which includes not only beers brewed on-site but in house made draft cocktails and sodas.

Four of us were out for dinner. We had appetizers which were good, sauerkraut balls and the hummus plate. But the dinners varied. My chicken Marsala was very good, but others got the almond crusted chicken salad, not enough dressing (not a big deal). Honey habenaro chicken sandwich had no flavor. And the Cajun chicken penne, the penne had flavor but the chicken didn’t. Two of us also got the bourbon flights, which was fun. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the restaurant and took great pride in telling us its history, which we loved! It’s a lovely old building with beautiful details! We’ll be back to try it again.

Something has changed with this iconic restaurant! Somehow the service is not as great as the many times that we have been coming here. It was a comedy of errors from drink orders and delivery to bringing out our delicious dinners. all at once. We invited two other couples with a big build up. I’m hoping this “ in the weeds moment “ was an isolated event.

A great time as always food was fantastic. Only complaint is don’t really love the chairs in the dining room. Much better off in a booth. Chairs are a little uncomfortable.

Food was alright. Experienced of the rock filet was cool. Felt like price vs quality was off. Drinks OK, I normally love Moscow mules. Had a difficult time drinking this one, not sure if it was the vodka used or ginger beer they brew. I’d recommend only based on the rock filet and experience.
