Elephant & Castle Prince Street opened in Lower Manhattan in ’73 across from St Vincent’s Hospital where George had worked as an oncologist since the 1950’s. After two decades of short lunch breaks where he could never get anything he wanted to eat, finally he retired to a life of eating everything he wanted to eat, in his own restaurant with a special name. His passion and obsession for quality was infectious and E&C became a New York classic within a few years. Doors opened in a very different and quiet Temple Bar in January 1989 and by Summer of that year the queues had already started for our fantastic food and spectacular atmosphere!
Outside the world has greatly changed, but inside our swinging doors we try to keep things just the way they were.

    Food only ok. 'Had the famous chicken wings to start - they were good. Main course burger arrived, did not look or taste amazing - was disappointed. Furniture and decor very tired. Service friendly and good. Food arrived very quickly (too quickly?) following the previous course, was it sitting waiting somewhere for us to finish, not sure. Probably wouldn't choose to go back as better places.

    Came for Sunday brunch with two friends. They were late and I was taking up a window seat. The staff never suggested I should order/move/leave. The food was divine and served promptly. Staff were very nice. Would definitely recommend

    Enjoyed lovely food here. Affordable and plenty of choice. Food came out quickly. Dirty chicken was very tasty. Recommend to book as it’s a popular restaurant to avoid disappointment.

    Très bon rapport qualité prix Super emplacement Personnel accueillant et agréable Petit bémol assez bruyant mais je recommande vraiment

    It’s our go to when we come to Dublin. Always a nice atmosphere, good food and service. First time in long time having Dinner, normally we do breakfast/ brunch but no complaints. Just as enjoyable as usual
