Elaine’s modern Mediterranean cuisine is based on exquisite food found in Alexandria, Egypt. The unique style is best described as Middle Eastern with French, Greek, and Italian influences.


Elaine’s is located at 208 Queen Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314. The 1880 building, the previous home of Bilbo Baggins for 38 years, has been completely renovated with a new look and feel. The restaurant is located in the heart of Old Town’s Historic District within sight of the Potomac River. Founders Park, The Torpedo Factory Art Center, and Old Town Alexandria Waterfront are only blocks away.

                        We loved our meal at Elaine’s! The food was fantastic. We also met Jeffrey, Elaine’s husband. What an interesting man!

                        Everything from the atmosphere, service, the Hibiscus Rum Punch, and the food was amazing! I took my father for Father's Day because we love fine dining in the DC area and we were beyond impressed with this restaurant. My father is a tough critic but I was not surprised when he said he was adding to his fave list especially since he had to stop himself from licking the plate!

                        Awesome food and environment. Hidden gem in Alexandria that serves an incredible selection of Mediterranean choices (with great vegetarian options). All 6 in our party were totally delighted with their meals and the service and attention from the staff and owner were outstanding. We will go back!

                        Definitely a quiet place and good food options. Falafel was on the point though kind of fell apart too quick. Halloumi galloush was okay. Braise lamb was the best thing we ever tried. I didn’t really like my pistachio martini but it is my taste preference. Service felt kind of rushed because we received our main course while we were eating the appetizers. Manager checking on us was a classy move . I think the service needs improvement. Welcoming team did a good job smiling and professional.

                        Lovely meal, with attentive and pleasant service. Interesting wine list and a nice chat with the owner. Will be back!

                        Service was good. Food was just Ok. Tabouleh had been made much earlier in the day and had already turned. Very little flavor in the mixed grill dish we ordered. Mezza appetizer was a disappointment as well.

                        We had an excellent experience for dinner at Elaine’s. I don’t recall ever speaking with both the owner and chef when dining out before! We sat upstairs, where it was quiet, and all the members of the party were able to hear each other and take part in the conversation. The food was outstanding. The only aspects I would comment on were that some of the appetizer portions were small (5 baby carrots?) and the waitress was a little forgetful…but it was busy, and we were upstairs. We all agreed we would be back!

                        Everything tasted great. Our only negative is that when the meal was placed on the table the two servers started to leave and I had to ask them to come back and clear the empty appetizer plates.
