Installé dans un ancien bâtiment de la compagnie de taxis Checker Taxi, l'El Che Bar est dirigé par John Manion. D'inspiration argentino-américaine, le restaurant représente avec amour le temps qu'il a passé à voyager en Argentine. L'établissement au cadre chaleureux et éclectique rappelle les rythmes contemporains de Buenos Aires revisités avec une approche locale. Le restaurant dégage une ambiance accueillante aux tons chauds, avec des clins d'œil subtils à l'Amérique du Sud. L'élégant bar en marbre noir contraste avec l'espace cuisine ouvert rudimentaire, où Manion cuisine des plats au feu de bois Al Asador. Des légumes locaux, des viandes grillées et des fruits de mer seront préparés sur les grills sur mesure et les plaques, dans un foyer ouvert. Spécialisée dans les spiritueux des Amériques, la carte des boissons propose également un menu de cocktails aventureux.

This dinner was incredible! We were celebrating a special occasion & had the privilege of sitting at the Chef’s counter. Nothing fell short of extraordinary. Food, service, drinks, ambiance were all a 12/10 & the staff was amazing, especially Sous Chef. We will definitely be back with friends & family.

A+++ food + service! Disclaimer - NOT your traditional Argentina cuisine but better due to its authentic Chicagoan flare. Had dinner with my sister during marathon weekend and our server Marco was super knowledgeable. He recommended the charred shrimp with the lime aoili + scallion and salsa macha that was prepared by Chef John which was delicious. Marco recommended a great 2021 Medoza, Ver Sacrum, for wine medium body red wine for those who aren’t fans of Malbec. He should be wine sommelier. Will definitely return when I visit Chicago again

We did not stay because the menu they have online is not what you get when you get to the restaurant. A lot of the steaks we asked about they discontinued.

The meal started off super strong with great service. We loooooved the wedge 10/10 and the oysters were delicious. We got the bone marrow - also delicious. When it came to entrees we were a little disappointed as the meat was under the requested temps and my husbands meat was not hot, calling it Luke warm would be generous. We would have shared this with the team had they ever checked on us. It was honestly kind of downhill from there. The support staff was attentive at clearing the table and refilling the water but our waiter was MIA for over 30 minutes so money was left on the table as we would have happily ordered more drinks and maybe even dessert. Overall a bit disappointed as this restaurant had an overwhelmingly positive start and just completely dropped off at the end. When you are paying 300+ for a meal for two you expect the service to be high quality from start to finish.

This place was gorgeous, our waiter was very kind and attentive, but more importantly the food was amazing! I ordered the prime rib and it was cooked to perfection. The butter sauce tasted amazing, and so were the fries. Everything was flavorful! Will definitely come back :)
