Ekte Nordic Kitchen - A taste of the North. Danish-born restaurateur Søren Jessen, who has owned chic City stalwart 1 Lombard Street since 1998, opened Ekte Nordic Kitchen along the Bloomberg Arcade in the City of London in 2018.

Ekte, meaning genuine or real in Norwegian, offers a varied Nordic menu with each dish taking inspiration from the Northern hemisphere. Using only carefully sourced, sustainable ingredients, Ekte’s menus – which were created by Swedish-born Executive Chef Robin Freeman and are now overseen by Head Chef Simon Finn – celebrate everything each season has to offer using only the very best of British produce. Ekte Nordic Kitchen is open from Monday-Saturday from 11:30am until 10:30pm for Scandinavian seasonal dishes, Nordic-inspired cocktails, freshly baked cinnamon buns and plenty more delights!

Very nice venue with a good food menu and lovely staff. We had the 2 course set meal, which was hearty.

Beautiful restaurant, tastefully decorated in true scandi style. The food was amazing, we had recommendations from the waitress and they did not disappoint! Meatballs are a definite must. Portions are generous, so we left feel quite full!

Really nice restaurant had the bottomless brunch offer with prosecco With the 3 course lunch offer which was really good value at £45pp total. Food was very tasty had the salmon starter, meatballs for the main and a pear with clotted cream for dessert. Really good value for1 5 hours of drink and 3 courses in the city. It has a nice outside area with heaters to but we sat inside.

Had to wait about 10-15 mins for our table, and the restaurant felt understaffed as ordering & paying took a long time. There place did not seem to cater for non-drinkers, no non-alcoholic cocktail options, and the proposition seemed to be revolving around the Saturday bottomless drinks option. We ended up going with just plain tap water. Food was simple but nice, price considering the service level was not great value.

Really cosy atmosphere and the food is always amazing! The dinner rush is busy but not too full or cramped. Service can be a little slow, but the food (especially the chocolate cake/brownie with caramel sauce) makes up for it.

Food was ok but the dumplings didn’t taste fresh, steak was good but won’t go out my way to go again as food wasn’t to our liking, also it was our anniversary but don’t hold your breath for any special treatment they couldn’t care less.

Giving 2 stars only for the service, they were kind, professional and helpful. Unfortunately, the food felt like a high scale IKEA canteen... No taste at all, some things like the meatballs (Frikadeller), Crispy pork (not crispy at all and looking more like boiled) were simply bad. Mash potatoes really tasted like one done in a school canteen and same for cabbage. It was disappointing at best. The staff (+ the wine and the company) saved the day.

Yummy small dishes and open sandwiches were the perfect early evening meal before going on to a performance. Tasty and beautiful. Service was friendly, but not quick.

Superb food, lovely staff and a wonderful decor. The lunch was marred slightly by our guest's order being forgotten resulting in a delay and our food going cold - however the staff were keen to rectify. Coffee was offered on the house as a compensation however a bottle of wine would at the very least been more appropriate.
