Welcome to EJ Kings Gastrobar and Restaurant Clifden, Co Galway.
In the heart of Connemara on the infamous Wild Atlantic Way.

For those who don't know our history. EJ’s was established over 100 years ago as a public house run by members of the King family and has dominated the corner of Clifden's Main Street and Market Street ever since .

A magnet for writers, artists, film-makers and naturalists, Clifden enjoys an international reputation for excellent food, drink and good cheer and EJs is no exception!

Offering a range of dining experiences, Ej’s can be the ideal venue for a quiet leisurely drink,or a cosy lunch before exploring the many attractions of Connemara and finish the day with an intimate dinner followed by a lively music session amongst friends.

We booked the restaurant based on the menu online which had a lot of variety . When we arrived we ordered drinks and when we looked at the menu it was completely different . We had to stay at that stage as we had ordered and opened a bottle of wine . What we ordered was good but not what we wanted . Noise level was high . A lot if children and low ceilings do sounded louder . Disappointing . You need to change your online menu to match your offer

We were early in the restaurant- the food we had fish and chips was excellent, and the service very good. Had desserts as well. With one pint bill was €57.50 very good value

The food was decent and the table was comfortable and the service was fine. We booked dinner through Open Table and when we arrived we were told that the restaurant was closed but we could eat in the pub from the pub menu, which we did. There seemed to be a disconnect between making a booking for the restaurant on Open Table and the actual restaurant being available for booking, which was a bit disappointing. The pub food was good and the menu was fine for pub food. Just not what we thought we had booked. So this is not really a restaurant review as we didn't eat in the restaurant we had booked.

The service and the food has been great. We enjoyed our dinner. The only little"minus" was, that the windos could not be closed entirely, so it was a bit chilly.

First time in this restaurant as we were visiting connemara. The restaurant was absolutely lovely with a great vibe. The food was incredible and at a reasonable price. Even the kids beef burger was amazing! Would definitely visit again!
