La décoration intérieure blanche éclatante du salon et restaurant EIGHT4NINE crée un cadre minimaliste parfait pour mieux mettre en valeur les saveurs culinaires colorées du menu. Ce dernier met à l'honneur la cuisine américaine moderne de la côte Ouest axée sur la présentation et les saveurs. Le restaurant propose une cuisine soignée, subtile et savoureuse. Le chef Chuck Courtney a fait l'objet de nombreuses couvertures médiatiques de haut niveau comme Bon Appétit Magazine, le magazine Wine Spectator, le New York Times, Diablo Magazine et The Contra Costa Times. Everyone enjoyed their food except me. Mine was cold. Should have said something. Service was pretty slow.

Palm Springs is home, we therefore enjoy many dining options year round. It had been a couple years since we last dined at 849. After this past week’s dinner, we will absolutely djne at 849 frequently! Awesome service. We had a table outside, in the evening, very comfortable. And the food! OMG! There must be a new chef! We had oysters snd a carrots with hummus appetizers; both great. Main courses were lobster with pasta and fried chicken with salads, again both awesome (the salad dressing amazing). Strongly recommended!

The reputation preceded this place, so maybe my expectations were elevated. The server was aloof and not responsive at all. The food runners and bus staff were great. They worked hard. The food was good, not great. The location lacks adequate parking. The host staff was in a big hurry (5:15 reservation, what’s the rush??) even though there were only 3 other tables seated at the time. Overall I’d say it’s a 7 out of 10. In my opinion, there are many other great places to eat in this town that I prefer over this one.

This place was perfect for our girls weekend brunch. There were plenty of options especially for my friend who is a vegetarian. The service was prompt, the food was delicious and it was conveniently right near everything. We found street parking across the street.

We were seated early and that was nice. The corn and blue crab chowder was very good although the crab was only a “garnish.” I chose the poblano chile relleno entree because I thought it was a house specialty. It was not good—the batter on the chile was not light and fluffy but heavy like potatoes or flour dough. Spouse had chicken Milanese. “It was alright” He said. We were too full for dessert, although we wanted to try the key lime pie.

The place was packed for Valentine’s Day but the service was friendly and we were made to feel like special guests The food was excellent and the portions were perfectly sized. Well priced wine list with something for everyone Definitely will return.
