With Echo & Rig Chef Sam Marvin has introduced a pioneering new concept transforming the long-held theories behind the steakhouse formula.

We put a unique nose-to-tail spin on the traditional steakhouse, allowing diners to indulge in the best cuts of meat for incredibly approachable prices.

A butcher before a steakhouse, we use every part of the animal. We care about every animal - how it lived, what it ate, and how it was cared for.

Our 7,000 square foot space is located in the Downtown Commons Neighborhood (DOCO) in the lobby of The Sawyer Hotel. Situated on the bustling J Street corridor facing the Golden 1 Center main entrance.

We have a versatile space: a private dining room with audio/visual capability, an outdoor patio, and an outdoor bar available for rent.

Items on the menu not listing major ingredients like red pepper flakes and garlic on their roasted broccolini, steaks were prepared 2 temperatures below what was ordered. One steak was ordered medium rare and came to the table blue. One steak had enough silver skin and connective tissue that it was difficult to cut. The service was slow taking over 10 minutes to approach the table initially . Once approached, the service was mediocre, they failed to check in after receiving food and made audible condescending comments regarding our table .

Booked a solo reservation after the Kings game. Was sat quickly upon arrival and was well taken care of by Kim, my server. As expected, it was very busy, but the service, food and ambience were perfect.

My wife and I ate here before the Heart concert. We were staying in the hotel and this was super convenient. First, the staff were great. We had come down to the bar in the restaurant well before dinner, just to have a glass of wine. We let the bartender know that we were coming back that evening for dinner and asked his thoughts on the menu. He recommended a starter, a salad, a fish dish, and one of the steaks. He was very helpful...and as it turned out, spot on. When we returned for dinner, we also asked the server's recommendation: the branzino or the lamb chops? She didn't hesitate, the branzino, which was also what the bartender had recommended, and it was spot on. The branzino came in two filets that were perfectly seasoned and the skin was crispy. We eat a lot of branzino and this was as good as any we have had. All the staff were great and the swordfish that I ate was also really well done. I also appreciated the extent of the small plates, which we also had a couple of as starters. Frankly I could have eaten off the starter menu. Oysters, watermelon salad, and the pesto gnocchi - were all great. Congrats!

We come to Echo & Rigs annually for lunch and we always enjoyed our times. The lunch meal was good for all of our parties. The service was on point and they didn’t rush us. It wasn’t busy, so I am glad we were not rushed. We already made plans to come back end of the year and one of friends were going to bring their friends to E&R for dinner.

Steak tartare and Samosa cigars for Apps was a strong start, but a charred filet and a gem salad with too acidic a dressing left us underwhelmed.

It was VERY hot which made my dinner experience uncomfortable. The acoustics in the restaurant are awful and should be addressed. It was hard for me to hear the others in my booth due to the noise. This was a business dinner so I don’t think it will be prudent for me to schedule another business dinner there.
