Le Eating House 1849 rend hommage au patrimoine culinaire animé de Hawaii avec un clin d'œil aux restaurateurs tels que Peter Fernandez qui, selon ce qu'on raconte, a ouvert un des premiers restaurants à Hawaii vers le milieu des années 1800s, l'appela The Eating House et puisait ses ressources de ce que pouvaient lui offrir les agriculteurs, les éleveurs, les glaneurs et les pêcheurs locaux. Service is top notch! Live music is great. Sushi is delicious and thoughtful. Kanpachi cooked beautifully. Risotto could use some refinement, but overall, a wonderful evening.

Was happy hour when we ate but it very quiet. Food arrived in minutes and we felt rushed throughout the experience and had to ask for the main course to be delayed. Overall tasty food but not as good as the restaurant in Maui.

Delightful in every way from beginning to the end! From the first moment when I walked up to the host desk and was met by the wonderful Misi! She started off our brunch with perfection. The food was fabulous our waiter, Gonzalo, was so accommodating and helpful. All of the staff are kind and knowledgeable. You never have an empty water glass or a table crowded with used dishes. But I have to go back to the food for one more minute. I LOVE THE FOOD! And my guests, who were there for the first time, loved it too.

Great dinner! The Hawaiian martini was delicious, especially the marinated pineapple - powerful and tasty. Highly recommend the amberjack and risotto. Also the brussels and “Chinese bacon” (lap cheung). Ramen was also very good. Our server, Aidan, was helpful and attentive. Will be back the next time we’re in Honolulu. Mahalo.

Food was delicious as always. Our server was great and the attention given our table was just right with water refills, etc. Ordered our favorites such as the burrata salad, bbq rib appetizer and grilled salmon. Tried the ramen this time and it was delicious!

So I used to love Eating House… but… I made a reservation far in advance and requested an outdoor table… when we were seated it was an indoor table right at the front door… I was then told I would have specially requested a PATIO table.. in the notes section of the app.. really??? The options were open air, bar or inside…She definitely made me feel it my MY error…So we were reseated about 20 minutes later on the patio… there were quite a few tables available but it could have been a shortage of wait staff… Living in Hawaii I’m used to high prices but seriously… two very small filets of Kampachi over risotto for $53??? Crazy. No sides .. oh.. three roasted cherry tomatoes. It tasted good but it was WAY overpriced. Our waitress was friendly and efficient . Cocktails were good. I don’t want to break up with this place.. I’ve raved about it… maybe an off night? But left kinda bummed. I rarely write a negative review but was sooo disappointed.. I think this was my fourth or fifth visit and may be my last… looking for the next great Waikiki dining experience…

This was our second time at a Roy’s 1849, the first one being in Kauai a few years ago. That Kauai experience was much better in all aspects. This Oahu location was average at best. The staff & service was excellent but, that didn’t compensate for the mediocre food. I had the Sunset Menu: The app included 3 items (good short rib but, mediocre pork bao bun & spring roll); the main (swordfish) was good with several preparation & sauce choices; the dessert panacotta was terrible (you don’t have to basically an afterthought). My wife’s spicy ahi tuna roll was horrible, with the (ahi?) tuna made into some sort of mousse which tasted like stale fish paste. We would it recommend this restaurant, even though the staff was wonderful.
