    I went on day 2 and they were just getting up and running. Fast forward to January and they had it all figured out + a kids menu which is a bonus.

    What a shame to have this be the way it is. 5 of 5 beers out of stock- on a Friday at 8:30pm. Meanwhile, store fridge right outside stocked full of beer, except it was closed temporarily with a host saying “the guy’s away for a bit”. Food: Excessive grease in the food. Having visited in Chicago, Vegas, NYC and here- hands down the worst. Would not return. Gelato store- serving melted gelato. Asked them freezer temp and none of them had a clue. Showed them their own thermometer that had two guiding blue lines that their temp was clearly above- seemed like a realization for them. The hosts and management acting more like bouncers than staff. Whether this Eataly location is eroding the equity of the Eataly brand, or the Short Hills Mall is upping the brand of this Eataly location, or this location is surviving because of it’s presence in a top mall, it’s all a complete mess. Would not return for a long long time. Reviews seem to be well earned and won’t be surprised if they keep dropping, unless they change things quick.

    Love Eataly so much but very disappointed in my first experience at the Short Hills venue. I hope they improve the service, food, and maitre'd arrogance. I don't want to see Eataly at Short Hills fail. Please take a hard look and train better.

    I really want this place to succeed but they are NOT ACCOMMODATING AT ALL and run out of basic menu items (I was there twice). My daughter asked for a different type of pasta (that was already on the menu) cooked plain with butter and they would not do that. The waiter was rude and disappeared. I had to ask another waiter to bring us a bottle of sparking water after asking 2x.

    First impressions are everything, when I arrived the hostess and what looked like the manager were speaking they didn’t not acknowledge my presence. They finished then the hostess waited a couple of minutes before greeting me. Then when I told her I had a reservation she was like I need to check on the tables. Left me about 5 mins waiting. The gentleman next to me waiting even noticed how poorly the staff was. Then We were seated, the waiter took about 5 mins to come over to take our drink order. The bus boys were more polite and pleasant. There were guests two tables down trying to get with the chef and he seemed to be very uncomfortable with the lady asking him out during our dinner. She was taking loudly across to him. I had to ask the waitresses for extra plates after our pizza appetizer. There was also fly nats and a fly that was buzzing around our table. We were going to get desert but at this point we decided not to. We paid and went to the gelato and dessert section in the front of the store. The staff was so pleasant and welcoming and kind!! We laughed with them and they made us feel welcomed and appreciated. Whatever you are doing with the front staff should be implemented in the restaurant. Poor management falls to your staff and it’s very disheartening that we choose to eat our birthday celebration with you and we were treated so poorly.

    Been here twice and both times the food was very, very good! Service was excellent! Food is pricey but delicious so you get what you pay for:) fun to shop in the Eataly before or after your meal and grab a coffe to go and shop the stores in the mall.

    It’s a lovely place and I am glad that it’s local. The meal options were low for my teenager and the service was quite lagged in terms of timing and sequencing of our meal. We also sat in a lovely bench area but unfortunately, each time someone entered the restaurant, the cold air came in and made it uncomfortable. I had to sit with my hat and scarf on through the meal.
