We absolutely loved D'Vino. Celebrated our 20th anniversary. The chef came to our table to clarify our request on our order and came back at the end to make sure we were satisfied. He and the restaurant was amazing! Most delicious eggplant parmesean we've ever had!

Calamari was chewy, the marinara with which it was served was bland (the most bland marinara I've ever had). We ordered arancini rice balls which were fine, but also came with that marinara. The spaghetti with meatballs was a small portion, made all the more obvious by being served in a huge plate.m. The meatball was good, but the pasta was a little overcooked and you guessed it, the marinara was bland. We asked for extra parmesan and they brought out a shot-glass sized cup with parm for the 4 of us. (insufficient). Entree took over 30 minutes to be delivered (the restaurant was 3/4 empty) and it wasn't hot. Not cold, but not hot. I would've sent it back if it hadn't taken 30 minutes to get it the first time, as I didn't want to wait any longer. Overall, the food was "meh" and definitely worth the price.

We were in Madison for the quilt show, and based on our previous experience with D'Vino I had made reservations for Wednesday and Saturday dinners. Wednesday I started with the Trio di Gusto, a sampler of tapenade, fresh ricotta, and caponata served with crostini. The last time I had it I was delighted; less so this time. The tapenade was so salty I could not eat it, and the crostini were so thickly cut and hard I thought I might break a tooth on them. My husband had the calamari, which was perfect. My entree was the lasagna, which had shredded braised short ribs in it. There was so much meat that the rest of the ingredients were overwhelmed - I ended up removing about half the meat. My husband's entree of bucatini carbonara was perfect. Saturday night I had the burrata for appetizer, and again, the crostini was so think it was like small pieces of slate. The burrata itself was delicious, but the arugula salad beneath it was sprinkled with rock salt so large I thought at first there were small pebbles in it. My entree was the ravioli special, very nice, and my husband had the Fruit de Mare which was exquisite. Service Wednesday night was not particularly good - our server acted as if she would rather be anywhere but at D'Vino, and was not attentive to us. Saturday night our entrees did not appear until over half an hour after we had finished our appetizers. As the restaurant was not especially busy, I found this to be unacceptable. Our server was accommodating but not particularly understanding. Any restaurant can have an off night, but the quality of some of the food and the service seems to be slipping at D'Vino.

This has become one of our favorite spots in Madison. The food is consistently delicious and the service is always friendly and quick. We also love being able to visit with Dino when he has a moment to chat. Highly recommended!

I have had meals with friends at D'Vino twice now and certainly plan to return. Having visited Italy more times than I can count (over 30, at least), I can say that the food is authentic Italian. A delicious cream-pesto sauce over tortellini had pesto made that morning from basil grown at the restaurant. The tiramisu, by which I tend to judge Italian restaurants, is excellent.

Delicious food, very good server but entrees were slow to come out. Our waiter recommended we order appetizers because it would take a while to get our main course. We appreciated his advice. Excellent fried calamari and fried ravioli! Delicious lasagna, chicken Parmesan and swordfish. The restaurant is very conversation friendly. Came with friends from out of town and will be back!

Despite being understaffed (a fact which they apologized for, quite unnecessarily) , the service was excellent and the food and drinks were superb. Looking forward to returning.

We did not enjoy our trip to D’Vino. The inside seating area used outdoor cushions on the bench which were filthy. The paint was chipped all over the walls. Our server, while nice and attentive, was wearing jeans. We expected more from the antipasto, it was small. I didn’t care for the carbonara, which may just be a taste preference. Maybe our expectations were too high.
