I was looking forward to have dinner at this place, but, unfortunately, the food was absolutely terrible especially for the price they were asking . Not sure where these nice reviews are coming from . Bruschetta we ordered had toasted cold and old toast. Buffalo shrimps were ok. The pizza was tasteless . Drinks were pretty poorly done . But the price was crazy high. Never coming back here

The Downtowner was a wonderful place to celebrate my daughter's 50th birthday! It was filled with happy people enjoying ourselves. The atmosphere and the food are great. Trisha, our server, was helpful with suggestions of appetizers and drinks right away. She also made certain that my granddaughter's salmon was not done on the grill but in a separate pan because of a nut allergy. Trisha delivered my glass of milk (with the requested ice cube) right before my entre of Lamb, veggies and Basmati Rice was served. (Most servers forget the milk.) As much as we loved the dinner, my next visit will be for lunch because that is when the BEST EVER POPOVERS are served! Thanks!

Thank you Heidi for an outstanding dinner tonight! Our waiter Heidi was friendly and welcoming, and super efficient. We were a table of 6, reserved online the day before. I was able to leave a note that we were celebrating a birthday. When we got there the table was set with a birthday card holding a thoughtful surprise. We had two starters to share amongst us, then each had a main dish. I particularly liked the fried shrimp squid and veggies and found the lamb kebab was perfectly cooked. Starters were practically the same size as the main dishes! Most of all, I really appreciated the quiet atmosphere. No crazy loud music so we were able to have a lovely conversation to go with our excellent dinner.

Heidi was awesome - she was even better than the shesh-k-bobs - wonderful time as always at the Downtowner. Our bartender DeVille was also a great host and helped us settle a raging vodka dispute - (GreyGoose over ketleOne)Thank you so very much.

Lovely meal on a quiet Sunday night before seeing some excellent music at the Palace. NY strip steak and potatoes with a glass of wine. Yes it was goood.

Everything was perfect…from the time they seated us, until we walked out the door. Ambiance was great! The only place smells amazing. No noise except from John, the fantastic pianist who plays Sundays. The food was delicious! Excellent choices for brunch into the afternoon. And the service was impeccable! We decided on a standing date for brunch there.

I’ve ways like this place because it was one of two places in the twin cities you can fine Persian style shish kabob over rice. My husband and I both ordered the steak shish kabob over basmati rice and it was very tasty. Though I joked with the server that I’m positive the owner’s parents made it with dill rice which would be SO much better!
