Situated within the Main Lodge at The Preserve Resort & Spa, Double Barrel Steak offers the public and overnight guests a rustic, inviting setting to enjoy modern American steakhouse-inspired cuisine where seasonal menus are offered in ways that provide a most engaging guest experience. As a nod to Rhode Island’s “Ocean State” moniker, the restaurant offers “ocean steaks,” including swordfish, halibut and tuna. In homage to The Preserve’s outdoor experiences, game will also play a seasonal role on the menu. For gentlemen, collared shirts are required, no shorts or flip flops.

The restaurant is in a beautiful setting but the food was boring and overcooked. The Spa is fantastic but I would find an alternative venue for food.

Just a fantastic restaurant. Our server Natalia was exceptional, and the burger night value is insane! We absolutely love coming here - not just special occasions. You don’t have to spend $300 bucks on dinner here, although you certainly have that option. Either way it’s well worth it!

Interestingly the reviews on Open Table were 4+, Yelp at a 3. We experienced all the negatives expressed in the reviews. When you arrive the entrance appears to be a service entrance, a golf cart was parked in front of it. No sign. We found a back entrance. We were seated at a table for 6, even though it was just my wife and me. Overall service was slow, even though the room was less than half full, there was sufficient wait staff to handle the tables. The wait staff would just disappear for extended periods, where did they go? Bus service was inconsistent, we had to request the bus associate to clear the oyster plate when he was clearing other items from our table. The worst part was our medium rare steak was RAW, not even juicy, raw, like uncooked. It was replaced with an explanation that the chef mix up the orders. The required 18% tip was started this year, I suspect customers were leaving less than 18% based on the experience. Dress code, what a laugh. They state clearly the dress code on the website, no beach ware/jeans. However, half the customers violated the code. Why even have it if you are not going to impose it. When we go to an upscale establishment with a dress code, that is what we want and expect an upscale environment, not the local super market. (OK call me an old fashion snob, it was the way I was raised, follow the instructions) We live in the area and there are no good steak houses, we were hoping we would find one close but I guess we will still have to track to Providence for a steak fix. Last, over promised, under delivered.

Very comfortable dining room with quite good food. The clothesline bacon stood out. Great wine list. A little pricey but not outrageous. Three of us shared a tomahawk steak ($145)and we had leftovers.

We celebrated our 47th anniversary here and had a lovely dinner. The food was excellent and the staff went out of their way to help us celebrate with a card, dessert and Prosecco drinks. We will be back.

Setup a birthday dinner for my mother who was turning 87 years young. Everything from the moment we walked in to when we left 4 hours later was outstanding. All of my guests were amazed at the presentation and tastiness of their meals. Our server…Kristina knocked it out of the park.

Food was cold. I needed to send my food back due to uncooked. Service was absolutely terrible. They change an 18 percent tip which is why the servers seemed not to care. The manager was totally useless and other than it being beautiful it was way over priced and again the terrible service can’t be understated. I never seed food back, but at $245.00 for three people without drinks and desert, I needed to at this place. Absolutely not worth the trip. Terrible place to spend a special occasion.
