DOPO, meaning 'after' in Italian, is an intimate dining experience in the lower level of Elizabeth Square in Marda Loop, Calgary. Inspired by D.O.P, its predecessor restaurant, DOPO has been reimagined by Executive Chef, David Leeder and Owner, Tony Migliarese. With strong opinions from Mamma Rose, of course.

This is NOT the DOP we Knew and Loved. Sad to see the rebrand turn out to be a flop. An all around disappointment of an experience. The new location is very nice and in a trendy area of Calgary SW, but the food and service did not hold up. While our server was nice, she lacked the experience and expertise that the previous DOP staff had. The wine she suggested was horrible (could have potentially been corked?). The pasta dishes we had were forgettable and the crudo was warm (??). The best part of the meal was the tiramisu and bread and tomato dish. Not sure if we’ll be back as it just wasn’t worth it.

Food was super good. Servers were very helpful with figuring out what to order. Bit slow at first with the service but overall it was great!

Bartender was incredible - so knowledgeable and let us try a beautiful Amaro for our celebration! Didn’t get his name but thank you for making our night one to remember. We will be back!

DOPO doesn’t disappoint! Thank you Aven, Terry and Anthony for the hospitality. You made our anniversary very special. We left with our bellies full of laughs, good food and limoncello. The gnocchi was the star of the show. Crispy soft pillows of heaven. I’ll be dreaming about the ricotta until next time. Lots of love, Emily and Bradley

DOPO’s food and service are next level for Calgary but their reserved seating times are way too tight and it becomes very obnoxious. They need to figure out how to make it economically viable and not be pushing people out the door every 2 hours . I give them less than a year if they don’t address this issue. That would be a real shame.
