Aptly named for its marina-facing, bayfront locale at the Bahia Resort Hotel and the year that the resort opened, Dockside 1953 is a stunning standout sure to invigorate San Diego’s dining scene. Fresh, coastal-inspired, and locally sourced -- our eclectic menu of California fare features dishes to satisfy all palates. With a dedication to high-quality ingredients, menu highlights include butterscotch banana French toast and chilaquiles for breakfast, rockfish ceviche’ and a selection of flatbreads for lunch, pan-seared seabass and steak frites au poivre for dinner, and a thoughtful wine and cocktail menu. Ordered the burrata and beets - where there was barely any burrata. Also got the sliders and it was very very dry. Ambience was nice minus a loud, large party sitting near us.

Dined for dinner when we had our vacation in San Diego The Hostess was very welcoming! Our waitress was Kelly, she was polite, smiled all the time, checked on us frequently. My daughter ordered the Seabass dish, she liked it, creamy. My son enjoyed his steak, tender and juicy. I ordered the Shrimp Arrabbiata. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish it, I just ate the shrimp. Too spicy for me Overall, it was a good experience. $40 for a pasta dish is a little pricey.

My wife got ill immediately after eating here. That put a negative spin on the whole evening.

Ethan was our server and he was attentive and very kind. We had lunch, the fish tacos and the mushroom with goat cheese flat bread were amazing!

Beautiful view, the seating is peaceful. A great spot for families with kids. Amazing food and the drinks were perfect!

Dockside is nicely located for a view of the water and boats. The food and cocktails is expensive for what you get and considering there may be crying babies and dogs barking while you are trying to enjoy your evening dining experience. At sunset there is no awning to protect you from the sun if sitting outside. Service was very good but that didn’t make up for the noise and overpriced entrees.

First time dining at Dockside 1953. The waitress was great. The food was excellent. The ambience and view was spectacular. It has been a while since we have had such a wonderful restaurant experience. We talked about it for days. Can’t wait to come back. It started by getting a $50 off gift card if you spend $100,in the mail to come in and dine. My birthday was coming up and I said let’s try it. We were not disappointed.

Nice place. Open and bright inside. A lot of patio seating. Fire pit tables are available. The food was good but I would have liked a few more meal selections. The shrimp pasta was bland but the wedge salad and the braised short rib were good. Dessert selection was just ok. We ended with the gelato.

This was my first time here. I normally go to the Catamaran but I’m so happy I branched out and tried this. It did not disappoint in fact it exceeded my expectations. We had a lovely table outside with a fire pit. The atmosphere is perfect! Our server was knowledgeable about the menu. She knew my friends and I were busy talking and catching up and we never felt rushed by her. She was very understanding. The food was delicious, particularly the scallops. I’m definitely bringing my boyfriend here.
