Aptly named for its marina-facing locale at the Bahia Resort Hotel and the year the resort opened, Dockside 1953 is a stunning standout in San Diego’s dining scene. We were there to celebrate a marriage. It was rated highly and we were not disappointed. The food was outstanding and a great wine selection reasonably priced. We sat outside and the ambience was magical.

The views and ambience are incredible, but the hostess stand is exceptionally slow and the service has never been good. I had to ask twice for a children’s menu and the drinks and food take a long time and don’t come together. The prices are very high for such a disorganized place with average food.

They had a pre fixe menu for Valentine's Day, and every course was special and delicious. The staff were outstanding and the attention to needs without being "too much" was absolutely perfect. At the end of our meal the manager came by our table to ask about our experience and made sure we left happy. Truly an above-and-beyond dining experience for us!

Sara was our server and she was lovely. We ordered the seafood tower and the chef came to our table to personally let us know the crab legs were not presentable enough and asked if we would be open to swap those out for some other great choices. It was a really personally touch. Everything was wonderful and the view was so nice of the marina.
