With its spectacular waterfront setting, nautical-inspired design, and new menu of mouthwatering dishes by new Executive Chef Bryan Stuppy, Dockside 1953 is poised to become a favorite restaurant of hotel guests and locals alike. Aptly named for its marina-facing, bayfront locale at the Bahia Resort Hotel and the year that the resort opened, Dockside 1953 is a stunning standout sure to invigorate San Diego’s dining scene. Fresh, coastal-inspired, and locally sourced -- our eclectic menu of California fare features dishes to satisfy all palates. With a dedication to high-quality ingredients, menu highlights include butterscotch banana French toast and chilaquiles for breakfast, rockfish ceviche’ and a selection of flatbreads for lunch, pan-seared seabass and steak frites au poivre for dinner, and a thoughtful wine and cocktail menu. The extensive outdoor patio features cozy fire pits, gorgeous marina views, and a covered trellis to comfortably shade guests from the sun and rain.

The service was extraordinary. Food was good but portions were limited. Noise level was high only because there was a wedding brunch next to us. The view was so nice. Excellent for a cozy brunch. Thanks to all. Dave

Dockside 1953 made my golden birthday an unforgettable experience! The exceptional service by Victor took everything to the next level, making us feel both welcomed and celebrated. Every dish, from the perfectly prepared filet and tender chicken to the delicious bread service and exquisite shrimp cocktail, was true fine dining. Dockside’s ambiance, overlooking the serene Mission Bay, completed the experience. I couldn’t have asked for a better evening—highly recommend for any special occasion!

Breakfast was delicious I had the crab Benedict My co-diner had the avocado toast she said it was a little bland and put hot sauce on it but good we had a toddler with us the waiter and other staff were very good with him and the service was very good and cheerful and afterwards we all went out and played on the beach so fun! I'm staying here at the Bahia for the first time and this the first time I've tried dockside 1953 Love it!

We went for the Thursday night prime rib special. It's a lovely location. Service was great, but the potatoes were nit completely cooked and so cold that the butter didn't melt, and the broccoli was stone cold. The prime rib was very thin but actually tasty. It was smothered in gravy, which seemed a strange choice for Prime rib. There was an excellent salad and a good cheesecake included for $50.

The vibe for a fall San Diego day was perfect. Location is gorgeous. Food is very mediocre. Simple basic and lacking flavor. But they’re trying! The service was slow but friendly and considerate.

We met some friends who were staying there. We were at an outside table with the little fire feature. Such a pleasant atmosphere on a full moon night. The food was excellent though quite expensive in my book. Wonderful service. A lovely experience.

Food was very good. Sea bass was local and perfectly prepared. Ethan did a great job supporting us throughout the meal. Menu was not extensive but coved most of the bases.
