Our Name D.O.C. an Italian appellation abbreviated to mean "of controlled origin denomination" is core to our mission. To deliver you, the customer, the true Italian dining experience.

    I am sorry to say that the minestrone soup was tasteless, lumps of vegetables in water, absolutely no flavour, very very disappointing. Salumi board was OK. Pizzas had soggy bottoms. overall quality gone down hill. I guess maybe it has become too much of a tourist place these days.

    The food at Doc is always amazing. I love it. It’s the best pizza I’ve had anywhere in a long time. We shared a Capricosa and a prawn pizza. Delicious. The music here tends to be a bit too loud. Don’t get me wrong, I think music adds to the vibe. But it was hard to hear my partner speaking at times. Plus it was kind of “clubby” music. Not to everyone’s liking. They pumped up the music to full volume when bringing out a cake for someone. It was intense. No one knew what was going on. Besides that it’s a very busy restaurant with a nice vibe. Must book. It’s annoying that they add 10% surcharge on weekends. Then a credit card surcharge. It’s alot. Especially given a pizza is $32 to start with. For two pizzas and 2 house glasses of wine it was $100!

    Two of us at the table had the seafood spaghetti, although it was extremely fresh and pasta cooked to perfection, when tasting each individual seafood component it was obvious to the palate that the seafood had been blanched without any seasoning resulting in lack of flavour, the extraction of the seafood natural saltiness wasn’t enough to elevate the dish to where it should’ve been. I understand in a large commercial kitchen sometimes corners have to be cut, but for that dish at that price it’s a component that needs to be improved. With all being said, overall it was an enjoyable plate, maybe not quite enough to order it again. Claudio

    As always - wonderful food, good wine, lots of choice but most of all these days I wanted to thank the amazing staff. Every person we dealt with or came across was that brilliant combo of professional, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and never make you feel like an inconvenience or nuisance. The food here is always impeccable no matter how busy it gets. This was my sister’s 2nd visit to the Peninsula & 1st time to DOC (which had also been recommended by a friend of hers who used to live here!) & despite high expectations she was very impressed & loved our choice (we had the Spek pizza) was blown away by the flavours & we both ate more than we normally might - clean plates are the best compliment. I’d like to give a shout out to the staff in our area & at reception who were brilliant! They gave impeccable, fast without ever rushing us or making us feel pressured, efficient & something rare these days - friendly service. Polite, engaged but without being intrusive or wasting time. My sister double checked something I’d already answered for her but she thought ‘can’t help to ask/try!’ & the answer came with a smile & the comment that they were ‘asked this all the time’, putting us at ease & giving a laugh all round. Wonderful in a time when many places struggle to get staff who want to do anything. Staff here work hard but that is never shown to the customer. On a personal note I have one last thank you - I’m disabled & had requested a table where it would be easy to ‘park’ the crutches I use for short distances & in crowded environments & I got exactly that with no fuss - you’d be surprised how often simple requests like this are just ignored & it can be embarrassing, awkward and dangerous! Thank you for a wonderful meal & experience - it was a great start to my sister’s visit.

    DOC is nice and in a great spot but the prices are touch too high given both the offering and service. I pre booked weeks in advance and requested 2 high chairs that were not provided. Our waitress was pressuring us to order immediately and move us along. The food is nice but $35 for a pizza and $40+ for a pasta is fine dining which DOC absolutely do not deliver. We found ourselves wishing we had book 400 Gradi across the road when it came time to pay the bill. Overall it was an average experience and we’ll likely eat elsewhere next time.
